Excellent hiking areas near the park, awesome campsite with great view of the lake. It can get windy on the lake, so if that's and issue for you, get a spot in the interior of the park. Quick drive to Texarkana, very quiet at night, friendly staff and volunteers.
Only negatives is that the bathrooms need some maintenance. Drain in a shower didn't work, motion light didn't work.
