it is about a 2 hour drive from this campground back to the other side of the park and the park headquarters. If you are planning to hike trails on the west/North side, this is a great park with no traffic and good restrooms.

the hiking was great, just have to be careful of Bison. In the 2 nights i stayed there i only encountered 3 upclose (for how large they are they can be a bit sneaky). The views are fantastic along the ridges and the climb to the top is fun. Met many friendly people coming froma variety of places. It can be fairly hot this time of year but I was lucky enough for a nice cold wind for the days i stayed. will be coming back after knowing about the expansion the park got. Hope to stay and walk around again

Wonderful remote camping location! I think it took about 2hrs to drive into the campground from Carlsbad, which was a nice opportunity to unplug & transition into naturalness. Very beautiful canyon system to explore.
