What Guests Are Saying
Rocky Creek Park at Lake Somerville is a well-maintained campground featuring beautiful lake views from every site, spacious areas for camping, and a peaceful environment perfect for relaxation. The staff is friendly and the facilities, including the RV dump station, are well-kept, making it a great destination for nature lovers. While some visitors noted issues with the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the presence of sticker burrs, the overall experience is highly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Most of the campsites at Rocky Creek park were unavailable when we visited in early November of 2021. The campsites that were open were not very crowded though. We only stayed one night but we tried fishing to catch dinner. That was not successful so we had delicious hamburgers cooked on a wood fire. We also put in our kayaks and paddled around near the park. We found out that we had been trying to catch fish in waters only a foot deep. We paddled out to a peninsula across the inlet and a large bird flew out and landed on a protruding log not far from us. The bird had the distinctive markings of a mature bald eagle. It perched on the log, seemingly posing for us for a couple o minutes then flew away. However, we we not able to spot a bald eagle nest in the area. There were many other birds to watch - blue herons, egrets, vultures…

This park is a gem. Off the beaten path, quiet and beautiful. We only stayed here for one night while on our way home from south Texas. The site was long and mostly level, enough that my automatic levelers had no trouble leveling our 40' 5th wheel. The nearby small towns were quaint and loaded with antique shops. We will definitely come back here and spend some tie exploring the area.

Impressed with cleanliness of park. Bathroom/shower house very clean. When we checked in, park host was very friendly and helpful. He got us in a happy, relaxed mood before we even entered the park. Sites were situated so all had a few of the lake. We were on site #75 which was very adequate in length and very level for setup.

Lot 173 (Tent Only).
Lots are a bit closer than I like.
Sticker Burs EVERYWHERE.
Toilets were very clean
Water was very close
Absolutely beautiful lake and view
Our neighboring campers took us to a "beach" but the sand was consumed by the grass (and sticker burs).
We walked a 3-mile trail.
Overall, a fantastic place. I have booked a second trip for December.
The water was shallow to a point. It is almost like there was or is a deliberate slope down the side and out to the middle. 40/50 yards out is when the water got "deep". This was good for me as my son was with me. At the beach area, the kids played in the water and were safe.
The water was COLD though!
I gave it 4 Stars because 4 3/4 is not available. My only complaint is the sticker burs. These are a nuisance.

Beautiful park! Even saw a few bucks, turkey vultures, and an otter. Make sure to read the email you get for the gate code. Would stay for ever if we could!
