Hurricane Nicholas brought me up to Yegua Creek Campground. Made a quick decision to leave Lake Jackson and head out of the storms path. Sure glad I did as Yegua Creek was beautiful place to ride out the bad weather. After power was back on in Lake Jackson headed back home . The lady in the check-in both was extremely helpful. I plan to return again, hopefully not driven there by a storm. Beautiful campground.

I am really sad that the playground area was torn down and it looks like they are not planning to replace it.
Not sure why the rule changes were made regarding check-in. If you have a spot booked on a day that it is open before 3:00 I don't understand why you can't enter the park when it is available.
Not sure why certain sections of Yegua Creek Park are closed off for certain parts of the year. If it is to avoid cleaning those bathrooms then just shut down those bathrooms. The corp of engineers is probabaly losing money by not offering all sites available 365 days per year. Camping has become very popular since COVID and all spots need to be available. During the Fall and Winter the grass doesn't grow very much to have to worry about doing a lot of extra mowing.

We arrived Friday night - VERY DARK! Be careful driving around when arriving at night. The gnats were also HORRIBLE
Restrooms were scary!! Not dirty, but all stalls were filled with bugs - spiders and whatnot - all over toilets.
Saturday morning someone must have come in and cleaned up - for most of the bugs were gone by mid morning - afternoon.
Great campsites otherwise! Lake is very nice and speed boat friendly!
We had a great time!

This is such a wonderful park. The workers are so nice. The sites are spacious. You can see the water from any spot. It is a little piece of heaven here on Earth.
