The amount of plane traffic makes this park live up to its name. From sunup until night, a constant sound of training planes makes this park not very relaxing. The sites are spacious and all overlook the lake, but between the fire ant mounds and the debris from previous flooding, it makes walking treacherous at best.

Beatiful rocky lakeshore views. Watching the aerial manuvers from the airport is fun. Clean, organized facilities.

Airport Park is actually a really nice campground. The facilities are really nice and after a little over a year I have figured out how to use the reacreation.gov website. This park is, of course, tailored to suit the RV campground use. I am a tent/hammock/car camper. I would love it the most if I could stay at Airport Park or one of the other parks surrounding Lake Waco every week each month while I work in Waco (I am a contractor and my home in in Norman, Oklahoma.) This is allowed. Someone in the Project Management Office decided that any camper can only spend 14 days total within a 30-day period at any one of the three COE parks around Lake Waco (Airport Park, Midway Park and Reynolds Creek Park. Oh and Speegleville Park.) I can see the logic behind this decision; it precludes anyone from setting up permanent residence at the campground and becoming a nuisance. I get it. I think that tent camping should be an exception since THE TENT CAMPSITES ARE EMPTY except or me and an occasional car camper. Why can they not make a rule that you have to vacate one park and move to a different. Oh no...that would be considerate. As it is I am spending $72 each night at a hotel next door to a bunch or potheads listening to their loud rap music for this week and then go back out to Airport Park next week for $16 a night. I come in after 5pm every afternoon and am gone before 5am the next morning. I leave on Thursday morning and come back on Sunday night. No one ever sees me except for the really nice young lady or nice young man who gives me my window pass on Monday afternoon after work. I forgot to mention they charge me a $28 administrative fee when I cancel my reservation regardless if I stay one night or not at all.
Recreation.gov wants me to write a review every time after I stay at Airport Park they are going to get a review just like this one. Every time.

There used to be someone who would come around and clean the sites before check in. But ours was obviously not cleaned and we never saw anyone that came around that did that anymore. The bathrooms had cobwebs everywhere. It was a busy weekend and one of the women's bathrooms had run out of toilet paper. We have worked for COE as both a contractor and volunteer in Iowa for 10 years. I understand from talking to the people at the Fee booth, that the bathrooms are only attended to once a week, and the person who does it has all the bathrooms at all the campgrounds. That is a LOT! We have a contractor for each campground and we contracted for the bathrooms we had 2 comfort stations and 2 shower/bathrooms to take care of (plus clean the sites and clean out the firepits every week - we called it Ash Wednesday). We were expected to clean the bathrooms every morning around 6 am and check them again around 3 pm. We also did a full clean every Monday using hot water and a disinfectant (so the walls, toilets, showers and sinks were all sprayed down). We then wiped everything down and used a squeegee on the partitions and showers. Obviously, you are spreading the person who is cleaning the bathrooms way too thin. I hate all the burrs that are in the grass. I had to clean out my dogs paws every time she had to potty. And we had them all over our socks and shoes if we walked through the grass (which we quit doing). The grass/weeds were extremely tall (I understand you had had a lot of rain). The lawn was finally taken care of just before we left with big tractors and mowers so it looked much better. We would like to stay at the corner spot (Site 17), but we have a 13'6" RV and concerned that the trees are too low. They need to be trimmed. We appreciate that you have several Full Hook up sites and as long as we plan ahead, we can get one. We loved site 23.
