About Willow Lake

WIllow Lake Campground is located on the east shore of Willow Lake, at an elevation of 9,640 feet. The small lake sits in an alpine basin high on the Wasatch Plateau. Spruce, fir and aspen trees dot the open landscape, providing partial shade in the campground. Wildlife and summer wildflowers are plentiful, and autumn leaves put on quite a show in the surrounding area. This campground contains 10 single-family sites with picnic tables and campfire rings. Most sites have lake views, though none have direct lake access. A footpath leads to the shore from the campground, and another trail with easy fishing access leads all the way around the lake. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no water or garbage service. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. Visitor enjoy fishing, canoeing, wildlife viewing, mountain biking, and hiking to explore many of the surrounding trails. In winter, the area becomes a playground for snowobile enthusiasts.

Willow Lake offers a beautiful camping area with a nice cool lake and a great fire-ring, enhancing the overall experience. While the table's fixed position and the cattle guards may pose challenges, the site remains enjoyable. Many visitors express a desire to return in the future.

This spot is not necessarily a tent friendly area. It is more for just a camp trailer

Beautiful area. The campsite fire-ring was great and the newly planted trees will make the site even better when they grow. The lake was nice and cool during the hot summer day. The table was difficult to use and could not be moved even slightly to fit my needs in the space with the way the paths were laid out in site one. The cattle guards at the entrance to the campsite were difficult for even large dogs to cross. Over all an enjoyable site, and will return if time permits.

Beautiful views ! We had one of the campgrounds with a Picnic table, close proximity to the lake and rest room.

Campsite 3 was very cute. Nestled in the trees providing our tent with shade all day. Very close to the lake. Seemed like a ranger checked in everyday and the toilet was cleaned while we were here. We brought toilet paper and I’m glad we did because there was a few hours before the ranger came to clean it that there was none. Another tip is that the bugs here are no joke. Flies everywhere! And mosquitoes! Worse than I’ve seen before. So bring bug spray. Also campsite 2 and 3 don’t have a picnic table. And the dirt road drive up to the site took our Kia soul almost 2 hours to get through. Took the back loop on the way home into Ferron and the dirt road was significantly better and a shorter distance till paved road.

My family and I had a wonderful time over four days at Willow Lake Campground! The fishing was awesome and it was very peaceful. The only reason I didn’t give all 5 stars was because of the picnic table situation. I had read a review before booking our campsite #3 that had mentioned that #7 had no table. I didn’t realize that almost half of the sites had no table. I would still get #3 again, but I’d bring a table to cook and serve food on. The sites that do NOT have tables are #’s 2, 3, 7, 10, and 11.

Clean n nice n reclusive, less crowded. Camping sites are adequate.
Government needs to page the roads for safety of people going up there

Not maintained to justify fee. No flat areas and a lot of weeds. Just made the best of it.

This is a beautiful place and the lake is lovely. However, after a nearly an hour drive on the narrow 20 mile dirt road, the one outhouse had not been stocked with toilet paper. Luckily we brought our own. But, we camped all weekend and the outhouse remained unstocked despite the posted schedule listing Fridays as cleaning/stocking days. No camp host or Forest Service rep came. Also, the site we reserved had no picnic table, nor did the neighboring site. This also despite listing picnic tables on Recreation.gov as an amenity at all sites. We traveled a long way to get there. It's disappointing to plan a family camping trip when the campground and sites are neglected. But, again, the lake is wonderful.

What a beautiful, secluded location! It's a small, well-maintained campground that you get to by dirt road, which wasn't bad to drive on even in our Honda Odyssey. We reserved site numbers 5 and 7 and 7 seems to be the only one without a picnic table and not as flat of a spot for a tent. We had a good time though and the lake was beautiful! It was also nice to have stacks of firewood ready to burn next to each fire pit. I would come here again!
