The staff at Sand Flats were/are outstanding. There was an issue with an un-authorized camper in our reserved spot that that was handled to everyone's satisfaction in short order. The Sand Flats people came by several times to make sure that all was well. We couldn't be happier.
That being said, the reservation system SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!

Fun location. Liked the access to so many great places and adventures. Obviously better Spring/Fall.

The site itself was large which we loved, but when we got there the sites had recently all been relabeled. We had to go back to the check in and sort it out- it all turned out ok, but was definitely frustrating after a long drive. Later in the day there was no shade, even with the large metal canopy, but the sunsets were gorgeous.

Beautiful, primitive camping. Don’t expect much except for the beauty. The sites aren’t very level, and there are no amenities really, but that’s not the draw. Great to get out of the commercial part of Moab.

Convenient to trails and town. Noisy during the day with many off-road vehicles and motorcycles.

When we arrived, our site was occupied. The person in charge allowed the people to stay at first and eventually retracted. We lost eight hours of our day waiting around to get our camper in and set up, essentially a whole day of our trip. We were reimbursed for one night, but it would have been nice to have had the day instead.

Things were great for the first few days. Then, a "beers and bikes" tour took over the campground with a large group of children running around with battery-operated Nurf machine guns on the rocks above our campsite into the late hours of the night, and the bathroom became so stinky that it made it difficult to stay at our site for any length of time.

Beautiful place.
