About Simpson Springs Campground

The campground is situated on the eastern edge of Utah's West Desert near the historic Simpson Springs station on the Pony Express National Historic Trail. Simpson Springs was the site of a significant Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp in the late 1930s and early 1940s, just prior to the establishment of the US Army Dugway Proving Grounds during World War II.

What Guests Are Saying

Simpson Springs Campground is praised for its beautiful vistas, cleanliness, and convenient facilities, making it a great spot for groups and stargazing. The pavilion is well-equipped and offers shelter from the sun, though visitors should be prepared for windy conditions. However, issues like reserved sites being occupied, occasional maintenance concerns, and disturbances from noisy campers can detract from the experience.

It’ was a great campground but some of the spaces are backyards so your trailer opens away from the trailer and fire pit

We were a large group visiting the range. The pavillion at Simpson Springs was perfect. It provided enough sturdy table accommodations. The pavillion provided cover from the sun and had a concrete foundation. The parking was adequate for our carpool of cars. It has a fresh water hydrant and bathrooms across the road for men and women. The view is spectacular from the pavillion. Be prepared for wind at the pavillion. I have been there two times and the wind is generally blowing. There is room to set up folding tables to serve food. It is a beautiful campground. There was not a campground steward yet onsite which concerned us that someone else might take the pavillion before we got there on a Friday.

A group took our reserved campsite making arrival at night difficult since sites aren't marked. Nice facilities, but out of toilet paper (bring extra!!) and very fun for a quick camping trip!

Nice clean campground. Beautiful vistas. But, someone was camped in our reserved site so we had to find another. Apparently this happens often.

There was someone in my reserved campsite who would not move. I was hosting 8 other campers and they made reservations around this campsite making our get together more difficult. If you are going to charge for reservations, please have someone come and check on scoundrels who are disobeying the rules. I'd like my money back
