Spruces Campground in Big Cottonwood offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting, with friendly hosts and ample opportunities for outdoor activities, making it a favorite among visitors. Many guests appreciate the clean campsites and the picturesque surroundings, including nearby streams and hiking trails. However, the ongoing lack of running water and functional restrooms, which has persisted for several years, has been a significant concern for many campers, affecting their overall experience.

The site was beautiful. The bathrooms were open and working, along with the water so that was an nice surprise.

It was great! The only problem was not having water but there were still flushing toilets at the upper top of the lower loop and if we did need extra water you could get it in the upper campground. It would have been nice to have that on the website but other than than it was great!

The traffic on the highway never stopped all night Friday. Made it almost impossible to sleep.

We love this campground. Over the years the sites and roads have become overgrown with trees. Campground needs some serious tree maintenance. My 30 ft motorhome got scratched up bad and had tree lines broke on the roof just driving through the campground. My motorhome is 12’4” inches tall and trees where dragging across the roof. Camp hosts are great! The company that contracts the campground needs to do a whole lot better or move on and let a company that cares take over.

My husband and I have not gone camping for five years so we were looking forward to the peace and quiet with family at The Spruces. Unfortunately, the forest service decided it was a good time to cut down dead trees, and the sound of 4 to 5 chainsaws was deafening. Last Friday they started at six in the morning and did not stop until three in the afternoon. I called the forest service and politely suggested that they schedule cutting the trees down after September 26 when the campground closes.

Spruces is always a great camping destination in the Big Cottonwood Canyon. Massive campground with great variety of campsite options (always clean) whether you’re pitching a tent or pulling your mobile party pad. Hosts normally have great personalities and firewood. Enjoy!
