Great campground. Lots of traffic noise from the main road until about 1 am making it difficult to sleep. But beautiful.

Spruces Campground in Big Cottonwood offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting, with friendly hosts and ample opportunities for outdoor activities, making it a favorite among visitors. Many guests appreciate the clean campsites and the picturesque surroundings, including nearby streams and hiking trails. However, the ongoing lack of running water and functional restrooms, which has persisted for several years, has been a significant concern for many campers, affecting their overall experience.

It is a very nice campground but they are having issues with the water and restrooms.

Site 30 has no steps allowing easy access to large flat open areas under large old evergreen trees with a bordering stream. A squirrel, chipmunk, and stellar jay were showy yet respectful visitors. Entry on a single lane paved loop to a long deep single paved parking area with a narrow paved path through trees to a paved dining area with a heavy wooden picnic table, pole grill, and a fire ring. There was plenty of room to set up portable camping chairs and tents throughout. Recently cut old growth conifers were a distinctive feature between the dining area, stream and road.

Beautiful campsite. Sometimes loud from the main road though. Smaller campsites with space for one car and one tent.

I love Big Cottonwood canyon and the Spruces give an all encompassing experience of what camping in the Wasatch should be. We were pleased with the bathrooms working and having a tidy camp site. Tall trees provide shade and beauty. Although the campsites are a bit close together, the one we were at (53) allowed for it to seem private. It’s close to so many hikes and trails and I just love it. We’re coming back in September for some cooler temps!

The camp host was very nice, sorry I do not remember their names but there was another couple that I didn't really incounter and they left earlier so it wasn't them, but the ones that stayed was very friendly and like I said the other host didn't really talk or be friendly.

Jenny is the best campground host ever! Of course it would be nice if you got the water situation worked out and the bathrooms working again. We love the Spruces! My only comment would be that the black top needs to be flattened out on the paths to the firepits and tables, almost all of them are irregular and are a tripping hazard, especially in the evening in low light.

Water is still not available everywhere, but we had fun anyway, midweek it is quiet.
