Spruces Campground in Big Cottonwood offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting, with friendly hosts and ample opportunities for outdoor activities, making it a favorite among visitors. Many guests appreciate the clean campsites and the picturesque surroundings, including nearby streams and hiking trails. However, the ongoing lack of running water and functional restrooms, which has persisted for several years, has been a significant concern for many campers, affecting their overall experience.

We love the Spruces. We’ve been coming for over 30 years. It’s our family’s favorite campground.

We stayed in a “glamping” tent in site #43. Nice site; a lot of road noise, but when that quieted down it was nice to hear the creek. Also, it was Labor Day weekend which most likely was the reason it was super noisy. The beds in the tent were super comfortable making it easy to get a good nights’ sleep.

Beautiful all around. Campsite is within walking distance of a trail and within a very short drive to Donut Trail. I recommend Donut Trail. It's 1.5 mi down and back (3 total), and we saw multiple families with small children. We saw two moose so please be mindful. Didn't hear a peep at night. Campsite is approx 10 min drive from a restaurant, and then 35 min from Park City.

Spruces is always a great camping destination in the Big Cottonwood Canyon. Massive campground with great variety of campsite options (always clean) whether you’re pitching a tent or pulling your mobile party pad. Hosts normally have great personalities and firewood. Enjoy!

My husband and I have not gone camping for five years so we were looking forward to the peace and quiet with family at The Spruces. Unfortunately, the forest service decided it was a good time to cut down dead trees, and the sound of 4 to 5 chainsaws was deafening. Last Friday they started at six in the morning and did not stop until three in the afternoon. I called the forest service and politely suggested that they schedule cutting the trees down after September 26 when the campground closes.
