We brought up a small youth group for girls’ camp this week. We found the site last-minute and were concerned that it might not be what we expected and hoped for. Well, we were right. Tanner’s Flat FAR EXCEEDED our expectations! Marian and Jana are top-notch hosts. Our group site was spotlessly clean, beautiful, shady and perfect for our needs. We had some timing issues and Marian was absolutely gracious in helping us work things out to get our site ready when we needed it. The hosts checked in with us every day of our stay and were often seen working in the campground with their family. This campground is absolute Heaven! There is a small stream running through the middle and it was absolutely delightful to fall asleep to every night. The bathrooms were more than adequate and always clean. Plenty of fresh running water and firewood for your stay. There were three groups in the upper loop sites at the same time and the way they are set up, we hardly heard a peep from either side of us. This was a perfect getaway from the summer heat and the surroundings were a huge part of our successful camp experience. There are hikes everywhere within just a few minutes of Tanner’s Flat- check them out. We will be back soon with our family! Thank you again, Marian and Jana!

We enjoy the beauty of Tanner Flats with all the trees and the river. The campsites are nicely spaced. The camp hosts are wonderful people. And the other camper are super respectful. This is our second year camping here.
Our only disappointment is that they took some of the best RV camper sites and put expensive yurts (only a glorified tent) on those spots by the river.

This is our new favorite campsite. The host was kind and accommodating when we had questions and it was easy to contact them. The water rushing by was the best way to fall asleep and beat the heat wave!

Spaces are all on top of the water; some spots have easy access, others don't. Bathrooms and water are few and far. Some spaces are more like a hike in but most spots have space for more than 1 tent. Ground very rocky.

I enjoyed my stay here. Very close to the city but you really don’t feel like your in the city. The camp host was extremely helpful and friendly. The restrooms were, not fancy in the least (I mean it is a campground), were always very clean. I would agree with some of the other reviews that you will hear some traffic from the main road. We stayed in site #9 and could hear cars on the road. It was fairly quiet in the evening but would start to hear the cars from the road in the morning starting at about 7am. I think if you pick a site along the creek, the sound of the water will drown out any traffic noise. Fire rings were nice and big and so was the picnic table. There are several trails in the canyon as well as in the next canyon over. So plenty to do nearby. FYI the creek is a protected watershed so you cannot swim or wade in the water and no dogs are allowed in the canyons.

From I-215, take the 6200 South exit and travel a mile east to Wasatch Blvd. Take Wasatch Blvd 3 miles south to junction with Little Cottonwood Canyon/Highway 210. Take a left at the junction and travel up Little Cottonwood Canyon for 4.1 miles to the campground.
Tanners Flat Campground is accessible via Interstate 215, which is approximately 10 miles to the northwest, providing connection to major routes in the Salt Lake City area.

- This Campground is in Bear Country Store food and trash securely to avoid attracting wildlife -Failure to comply may result in fines up to $5,000, removal from your site and/or imprisonment Remember a fed bear is a dead bear
- Dogs are NOT allowed (only service animals) owner may be fined $650 This is a watershed area Visitors will be fined for bringing pets or livestock into the area Wading/playing in the water is not allowed
- Gates open at 7am, close at 10pm; Camping is allowed only within the designated space provided. Do not go beyond the boundaries of your site; Max occupancy is 8 people per single site; Reserved sites will be held until 12pm on the day following your scheduled arrival date; Horses/Off-road vehicles are strictly prohibited in the campground and the canyon; Leave No Trace; -Put all trash in dumpsters, if provided, or properly stored in your vehicle or bear box; -Remove all personal property and trash when leaving; -Unclean sites will be reported to the District Ranger LEO; -Leaving food/trash in an unoccupied site may result in a $5,000 fine; Cleaning fish, animals, or bathing where drinking water is supplied is strictly prohibited; Fireworks, discharging of firearms, or other explosives in the campground is not allowed; No boisterous behavior. Be courteous. Keep noise at a reasonable level; No amplified music is allowed in USDA Forest Service campgrounds; Max Vehicle Length includes tow vehicle.
- No water available on site bring all water needed for your stay including drinking water This is a 'pack it in, pack it out' facility bring trash bags
- There is a 2-night minimum stay on weekends; 3-night minimum stay on holiday weekends
- Trailers/Campers and RVs: Come with water tank filled. Hooking up to spigots or the power in the restrooms, even for medical devices is strictly prohibited Check site lengths carefully; most sites won't accommodate large RVs/trailers
- Reservations/First Come First Served (FF) sites For reservable sites, reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance You must claim a FF site in person on the day you wish to check-in A site listed as FF does not guarantee availability, Recreation.gov does not update FF occupancy The only way to know if an FF site is available is to arrive at the campground on the day you plan to check-in Availability cannot be predicted Many sites are in remote locations we cannot contact camp hosts about availability Recommended arrival times vary by day. Weekends and holidays typically fill more quickly To claim an FF site, you must be present, occupy the site, and pay at that time There is no waiting list for FF sites
- Extra Vehicle -$10 per vehicle, per day (paid on-site cash/check) Firewood -$9
- Please understand that camping is an outdoor experience; we do not give refunds for weather or natural conditions; Cancellations within 24 hours prior to arrival date will forfeit the entire use fee and a $10 cancellation fee; No-shows, early departures, or cancellations after the arrival date are not entitled to a refund; Failure to arrive at the site by 12pm the day after scheduled arrival and does not cancel the reservation, will be charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first-night use fee.
- If you booked at a discount without a Senior or Access pass, you'll need to pay the difference in cash/check upon arrival. Only Senior or Access passes qualify for discounts and proof of ownership upon arrival is required
- The amphitheater does not include tables or a fire ring. It only has benches and a presentation area
