About Red Cliffs Campground

Red Cliffs Recreation Area includes a campground, day use areas, a non-motorized trail system, and interpreted public use sites. Dinosaurs left their footprints, now visible in the sandstone. Ancestral Puebloans lived here in the 10th century, growing corn, beans, and squash along Quail and Leeds Creek. Mid-19th century pioneers farmed here, supplying the area’s silver miners with food. Located within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, the Recreation Area is managed to conserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of the public lands.

Amazing atmosphere. Pretty quiet for most of the day. There are some day use areas where non campers can utilize but it’s kept pretty separate. The red reef trail is really short and relaxing. Beautiful visuals and a nice little climbing section.

Great campground. Narrow tunnel the get there (had to watch the rear view mirrors on both sides of the motorhome), but we made it. Pulled in after dark. What a great surprise to wake up to! Was disappointed to see some of the better sites were reserved, but no one showed up to enjoy them.
We enjoyed checking out the dinosaur tracks the next morning.

Nice camp but be cautious, spot #2 has funky parking and you'll have to haul gear up stairs.

Thanks for opening up the bathrooms again, last couple of stays, they were 1/2 closed, leftover policy from Covid, I think. Had some noisy neighbors, one night, if I had been in a tent it would have been worse….maybe some midnight rounds from the camp host would be possible?
