About Red Cliffs Campground

Red Cliffs Recreation Area includes a campground, day use areas, a non-motorized trail system, and interpreted public use sites. Dinosaurs left their footprints, now visible in the sandstone. Ancestral Puebloans lived here in the 10th century, growing corn, beans, and squash along Quail and Leeds Creek. Mid-19th century pioneers farmed here, supplying the area’s silver miners with food. Located within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, the Recreation Area is managed to conserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of the public lands.

Our first time here and we were surprise on how beautiful it is. Some trails started right behind our campsite. Bathrooms were clean too.

This is a beautiful campground, which is very popular. It has tables, shade over them, and fire pits and water. It used to be rather noisy because day users were constantly driving the campground loop for easier access to trails. Now they have closed the loop to the day users (they still have ample parking in a lower area) and the experience is much quieter. Big Thanks to the managers for that! The only bummer is there were a lot of those invasive prickly bushes around my campsite. They are similar to tumbleweeds, not sure if they are or not. I tried to avoid them, but my tent floor ended up getting a lot of tiny holes due to the prickles. Glad my mattress isn't air! I hope the park gets on the issue quickly, because they can end up spreading prolifically.

Campsite 2 was good. Your vehicle can not be pulled up to the campsite like other sites, but across the road. Otherwise I would love to come back and explore the recreation site. Awesome scenery.

Red Cliffs was an incredible campground. Quiet and calm, with good amenities, and with neat hiking paths right off your campsite! We went on an early walk on the Archaeology Trail, as well as a quick jaunt to the Dinosaur tracks. Site 5 was a bit small for our tent but we made it work and had a great experience camping here. It’s a good alternative to camping in Zion or Bryce—it’s a close drive!

The campground is spectacular and quiet/peaceful. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the campsites are for the most part not flat, which makes it challenging when staying in an RV. Otherwise, this place is amazing and we will definitely be coming back

The location is beautiful and convenient to the nearby National Parks. It has great potential. We had a VW camper and a car with a rooftop tent.

There are camp hosts plus camp managers. Unfortunately, all they do is collect fees. When we arrived we paid the fee right away. A few hours later, the hosts stopped by and asked when we paid and said that we can't have 2 RV's on one site! (A car with a tent is an RV?) Since we had already paid for the extra vehicle, they let it go. BUT, we need to read the campground rules (we had), it says you have to park parallel to the sides of the driveway (it doesn't say that anywhere. We re-read the rules.) The car had been at a slight diagonal to make it more level. The car had to be parked correctly IMMEDIATELY!

When my husband knocked on the campground manager's trailer door more than once in the middle of the day, because the change machine for the showers didn't work, there was no answer despite the truck parked there and the TV on.

The bathrooms needed cleaning when we arrived and 4 days later when we left, they hadn't been touched, no Toilet Paper, filthy sinks and toilets, rolls of hair the size of wigs in the showers. And the sign said showers are $2.50 for 8 min. We found that they were actually $1.75 for 8 min. The showers were busy with people driving in until late at night.

Great campground but needs a better vendor that takes care of the campground and is kind to the campers.

Hidden gem! Booked because it was near Zion, but ended up spending the day hiking here! Dino prints and stunning short hikes.

Amazing backdrop to your camping experience. Got right into our spot. No issues. Love the gazebo that is included. Really helped keep the sun off of us. Fun hikes within the park. Cool dinosaur foot prints. Bathrooms were well maintained. Access to running water was nice just in case.
