About Red Cliffs Campground

Red Cliffs Recreation Area includes a campground, day use areas, a non-motorized trail system, and interpreted public use sites. Dinosaurs left their footprints, now visible in the sandstone. Ancestral Puebloans lived here in the 10th century, growing corn, beans, and squash along Quail and Leeds Creek. Mid-19th century pioneers farmed here, supplying the area’s silver miners with food. Located within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, the Recreation Area is managed to conserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of the public lands.

The bathrooms were well stocked with toilet paper and relatively clean. The water was reliable and good for drinking. No complaints about noisy campsites. It's always nice to hike around during the later morning, but evening seems like less noncamper visitors are around in the Red Cliffs park.

There is beautiful views from the campsite but it is really nice if you go up into the hills right next to the site. There is no cell coverage. In my opinion the view from site one and two are the best. However there is a little ravine that you have to cross to get to the restrooms. Overall a very nice campground it is small two with only 11 sites so there is not a large number of people around to cause a ruckus.

I have stayed at Red Cliffs before and it’s a beautiful site - but read the fine print before you reserve a site! I had picked one for a group of 3 adults, sharing a (smallish) 4 person tent, and when we arrived at our site (#4), there was nowhere to set up a tent larger than 2-person. At the very bottom of my reservation it says that this is a small site, but I missed the info not expecting the size of our small group to be an issue. We ended up camping on the parking spot, which was not particularly enjoyable for the out-of-town guest we booked this site for. It’s my fault for not reading all the site details closely enough, but be warned that not all camp sites are really suitable for camping!

We love Red Cliffs Campground. It can get busy with Day users and some sites are better than others but the scenery and walking trails are numerous and pleasant. Almost every site has it’s own water.
Quiet at night except if you’re lucky, the occasional frogs and owls.
Sites 8 and 9.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at Red Cliffs. The campground is in a truly lovely setting, right up against the red rocks with a small creek and cottonwoods. The sites are well-maintained and there were plenty of water hydrants. We did not see any staff in 3 days, so there was no help with loose dogs and trail questions. The materials from the visitors center (in St. George) and the campground maps do not adequately answer basic questions about the trails: trailhead locations, length, elevation gain, connectors, endpoints, features. I would love to have had some interpretative displays about the plants. Historic Silver Reef town site is nearby with a self-guided tour and museum worthy of a visit.
