The yurt was great and we had lots of fun. My only complaint is that there was a lot of junk left behind by previous people (including an entire bag of garbage). Please practice leave no trace, even 'useful' things like hand warmers and fire starters should not be left behind if you brought them there. You might think you are doing folks a favor, but in reality it just starts to junk the place up after a while.

Great secluded yurt. You’ll need 4x4 and good tires to handle the road.

Beautiful yurt! Make sure you have an off road, vehicle with some clearance. It is smooth up until the last 1.5 miles. We usually off road our vehicle but that one was tough, especially after it rained a couple days prior. Beautiful views and feels secluded.

The Yurt was great to stay in. The road gets a little bit messy the last part up but we were able to make it our Nissan rogue. Everything was clean and very well kept.

We were a little nervous when the lock wouldn't open but it did, I believe it had to be pushed up and then pulled; There has been small green propane canisters in the past for the lantern but there were not any that were full, so plan on taking in your own. A spatula for pancakes is also something you should bring. Last folks who stayed didn't put very many wood pieces inside to be dry and ready for starting the fire. Otherwise it was a great stay, hard hike for the youth, but great for them. Thank you!

Wonderful time in the winter. Would definitely bring some duct tape to fix the windows as they are ripping and let in cold air. Also bring lanterns because it’s pretty dark in the yurt.

My partner and I spent two days at the Limber Flag Yurt for New Years Eve. It was amazing! The yurt was well stocked with fuel: firewood for wood stove, butane for lantern, and propane for large cooking stove. There was a large pot for melting snow, a smaller pot for boiling water, and a cast iron skillet that we cooked NYE prime rib in. Despite the other reviews, the stove gave us no trouble and kept the yurt warm the whole time. No smoke inside at all and we kept it burning at full force the whole time (due to 8 degree temps outside).

Our plan was to do some backcountry skiing, but coverage was not ideal. There was about 12 inches of fresh powder, but no base. On our way in, we skinned up from the E McKee trailhead, which led us up steep although direct route up the NW side of the mountain. This lent to a fun/dangerous/rocky/powdery ski back down on the way out. On our full middle day, we toured up Limber Flag to assess coverage. We decided against any runs down off the ridge, but there were a few fields that were fun to ski through. Overall we had a blast and would love to go back when there is a bit more snow!

Worst experience in my life. There was no access. The road up to the yurt was just one giant mud pit. I could not pass through even in a truck with 4 wheel drive. What a joke. Don't waist your time.

You may notice some wood debris on your way into the yurt. There was a planned fuels treatment May 2025. There may be residual wood on the road up to the yurt during and after this. This is in preparation for the road to be reconstructed and improved, along with creating a fire break near the yurt. The yurt is supposed to be replaced fall 2026, in preparation for that, the road is being prepped for that work this season.Call the District Office at (435) 789-1181 three business days prior to a reserved visit to confirm door lock combination. District Office is closed Saturday and Sunday. Lock combination is REQUIRED to enter yurt.USE YOUR OWN DISCRETION WHEN PARKING/DRIVING ON SNOWY OR MUDDY ROADS. General

It takes approximately 2-3 hours to ski to the yurt in the winter; the trail is somewhat difficult with sections winding through trees and a couple of hill climbs exceeding a 10 percent slope.

General

No water is available at the yurt; guests must bring their own supply. There is one large water pot in the yurt to boil water, but guests should bring extra cookware as desired. There should also be a 10" skillet and a medium sized pot for guests to use. These do occassionally go missing though, so it is recommended to bring your own cookware in case.

General

To avoid smoke in the yurt, make sure to run the fire HOT. When you start the fire in the stove initially, it will smoke heavy until a proper draft is built. This may take a while, so get settled in while you let the fire work up. You can open the sun dome on the top of the yurt and open the front door to help clear out the smoke from the initial fire. Once the draft is built, you should be able to close the door of the stove and work with the dampers to build a fire that keeps you toasty warm!

General

A high-clearance vehicle equipped with four-wheel drive is required to access the yurt trailhead. During summer months, you can drive right to the entrance of the yurt. The road is rocky and remote, so it will require a 4x4 vehicle with good clearance, as the road can be rocky, muddy, and bumpy. Road access is not suitable for RV or travel trailers; therefore, no RV or travel trailers are allowed. From approximately Dec. 1 to March 31, non-motorized travel (cross-country skiing or snowshoeing) is required to access the yurt; snowmobiles are not allowed on the trail.
