Porta Patty's were full and gross. We are very saddened by the way the campground looks. Whoever burned the pile of trees everywhere did a horrible job. They not only have left remnants of burnt logs and branches, but they've also destroyed hundreds of nice looking conifer trees. Very disgusted. What kind of forest management is that. Plus, they've cut down hundreds of young trees and samplings. We may never return. We are so sad

Lodgepole has always been our go to place. My father in law was a camp host for many years! so it holds a great memory for our family.
But this was the first time that we have been up there that no camp host stopped and checked in with us. There was someone driving around in a golf cart, but never stopped. The fire pit has been damaged for a couple of years. Cement needs to be repaired.
Getting a reservation has to be done way in advance. To use the dump station we had to ask for the coin to dump it there.
Very sad that this camp site is going down hill. And no water, no bath rooms. Pretty sad!

Make sure you bring water if you are in loop A great camping lots of shade roomy camp sites

I would not come here again. It’s like camping on the interstate. There’s a five lane highway within view of the sites, and oil tankers driving it, struggling to get up the hill, all night long. Not relaxing.
Sites were clean and well-maintained, but that doesn’t make up for the noise.

Campground maintenance and facilities were excellent (toilets were out of service but the replacement port-a-potties were clean and well stocked). However, this campground is RIGHT down the hill from Highway 40, and not far from Daniel's Summit, which meant that a never-ending stream of tanker trucks were loudly down-shifting up the incline all night long. Its funny that we didn't notice the background road noise during the daytime at all, only when tucking in to bed in our tents. Earplugs would help, but my dog is sensitive to loud motor sounds and really struggled to relax. I can see why the majority of campers here were in towable or driveable trailers, not tents.

We were pleasantly surprised to arrive and see the Spicket's were turned on. Previous visits there has been no water so we hauled water all the way there. They even opened the bathrooms with flushable toilets for one day. The honey buckets were very full maybe that's why they did that! We love camping here but the highway noise is very loud and hard to talk when sitting around camp with friends. It is all day and all night. Such a beautiful campground otherwise.

The campground is accessible via US Highway 189, which is approximately 10 miles to the west. State Highway 40 is also nearby, providing additional access to the region.

Policies & Rules
General
- Camping fees include use of the dump station
- This Campground is in Bear Country Store food and trash securely to avoid attracting wildlife -Failure to comply may result in fines up to $5,000 and/or imprisonment Remember, a fed bear is a dead bear
- Please bring your own drinking water. Water is available at the dump station, not in campground This is a 'pack it in, pack it out' facility; bring trash bags
- Dogs or Domestic Pets Owners must -Control dogs by a leash not to exceed six feet (6’) at all times -Clean up dog feces -Limit two dogs per site Do not allow dogs to -Threaten or attack people/animals -Interfere with people, vehicles, or property -Cause damage to vegetation or harass wildlife
- Gates open at 7am, close at 10pm. No generators after 10pm. Reserved sites will be held until 12pm on the day after your scheduled arrival date.
- There is a 2-night minimum stay on weekends; 3-night minimum stay on holiday weekends
- Trailers/Campers and RVs: Water tank can be filled at the dump station. Hooking up to spigots or the power in the restrooms, even for medical devices is strictly prohibited
- First Come First Served (FF) sites For reservable sites, reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance You must claim a FF site in person on the day you wish to check-in A site listed as FF does not guarantee availability, Recreation.gov does not update FF occupancy The only way to know if an FF site is available is to arrive at the campground on the day you plan to check-in Availability cannot be predicted Many sites are in remote locations, we cannot contact camp hosts about availability Recommended arrival times vary by day. Weekends and holidays fill more quickly To claim an FF site, you must be physically present, occupy the site, and pay at that time
- Extra Vehicle -$10 per vehicle, per day (paid on-site cash/check) Firewood -$9
- If you booked at a discount without a Senior or Access pass, you'll need to pay the difference in cash/check upon arrival. Only Senior or Access passes qualify for discounts and proof of ownership upon arrival is required
- Please understand that camping is an outdoor experience; we do not give refunds or credits for weather or natural conditions Cancellations within 24 hours prior to arrival date will forfeit the entire use fee and a $10 cancellation fee No-shows, early departures, or cancellations after the arrival date are not entitled to a refund Failure to arrive at the site by 12pm the day after scheduled arrival and does not cancel the reservation, will be charged a $20 service fee and forfeit the first-night use fee
