Had a great time. Firewood is way too expensive.

Campground was great - sites are very thoughtfully laid-out to maximize your privacy despite their proximity (there are a LOT of sites in a pretty small area). I don’t think I’d recommend it for peak season due to how tight things are, even though the layout makes the best of the limited space. But in the early fall it was great! Midweek stay, place was probably 15% full.

This made for an awesome weekend trip! All of the staff were very friendly and facilities were very clean. Our campsite was pretty rocky so make sure you bring a good sleeping pad. Ironically, we were on our best behavior regarding bear safety but there was an apple tree dropping apples next to our tent all day and night so we did get some critters (deer) visiting the site to munch. The campsite also had a decent amount of privacy, which was much appreciated. We went in mid-late September and fall foliage was not quite in peak but was still absolutely gorgeous. The showers (paid) are not in walking distance so keep that in mind. Also, be prepared for storms and associated sudden temperature drops. This campsite was about an hour drive in from the southern entrance.

I. tent site D 130 loop D is not fit for a tent. a. there is no place without very large rocks to place tent stakes, b. there is nothing but sand and stones. c. infrastructure is very old and dated. with poor paving on walkways
II. "Family friendly hike" south of Loft Mt. had a large stone sticking up. a. causing me to trip and injure both my arms and knees b, resulting in me having to go to urgent care for x-rays and treatment

Easy check in with Ranger. Map and verbal directions were perfect to our ADA site. Gentle turn into asphalted, level campsite area. As we were in a campervan, it was just a matter of pulling right onto the spot where we wished to set the parking brake..
Spotless surroundings. Clean restrooms. Bear box if you need it. No bears heard in the night. Made to order overnight temps.
Going back next year!

The ranger who checked me in was friendly and very helpful. It has been several years since I last camped here and it looks like every site now has both a fire ring and shiny new bear box, which is nice.

This is an excellent spot at Loft Mountain. It felt private even though all the sites around it were full. It's big enough to put 3 four person tents if you have that many campers. The restroom is a short walk away.
