My family and I love this campground And recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area. There’s so much for the kids to do. And they don’t just cater to one age bracket. The staff is kind and easy to get along with. It seems that working for them just makes you a part of the family. We love the ice cream shop and the new pizza shop and my husband has looked at the company that they go through for that and is excited for things that could be brought. Most of the issues I have are guest related and not campground related, but when I see those, management has been working on anything that has come to their attention and that’s all I can ask.

We recently stayed at this campground with a large group of family and friends, and unfortunately it was one of the worst campground experiences we've ever had.
Upon arrival, there was only one functioning bathroom near the game room. It had no toilet paper, no hand soap, and was extremely dirty. The second bathroom in that area was closed. The bathrooms near the pool were also shut down.
The bathrooms toward the back of the campground were even worse. There was human feces on the walkway leading to the building and throughout the bathroom floor. One shower stall had a partially collapsed ceiling with visible black mold, a non-working toilet, and extensive water damage. Other stalls had ceilings sagging and bubbling from moisture and mold, appearing ready to collapse. The floors were filthy, the smell was overwhelming, and there was no air conditioning.
The laundry facility was closed for construction, with plywood visible on the floor. Several cabins rented by members of our group were in poor condition. Floors appeared chewed up and crudely repaired with staples. Blinds were torn, outlets looked damaged, some air conditioning units did not work properly, and water pressure was so poor in several cabins that guests were unable to shower. Some members of our group left early, and one family even drove to a local gym just to take a shower. The beds were severely worn out, sagging, and very uncomfortable. One cabin shower smelled strongly of rotten eggs.
The overall safety of the campground is concerning. Electrical components appeared patched together with electrical tape and makeshift repairs. Many areas looked neglected and potentially hazardous.
The campground activities were poorly organized. Most appeared to be run by family members or children with little coordination. Bingo had no prizes whatsoever—not even a small piece of candy. The bait and tackle shop had virtually no tackle available and claimed supplies were arriving later. During a scheduled crab race activity, staff seemed unaware of what was happening and later informed guests they would need to catch their own crabs.
The bathrooms near the tackle shop and boat launch appeared to have plumbing issues for an extended period, yet were still accessible despite being unusable. Human waste was visible on toilets and floors, and there were no warning signs advising guests to stay out.
The property itself needs significant maintenance. Roads are full of potholes, gravel is sparse, weeds are overgrown, and trash can be found throughout the campground. Maintenance staff were observed driving around while smoking and discarding cigarette butts from their golf cart.
The list honestly goes on and on. This campground is not being maintained to an acceptable standard and falls far short of what paying guests should expect. In its current condition, many of the facilities appear unsanitary, unsafe, and in need of major repairs. Management should address these issues before continuing to welcome guests.
GO BY THE ONE star reviews.

False misleading advertising for what they have here. Immediately after a negative review someone post anonymous ,talking about how good the pizza Ice cream and views are. Majority of people that stay here live here and work here. I’m sure they make there money off of the long term stays during off season.
Everyone in our family friend groups rates this campground 1 star and that’s out of 40+ people.
The sad thing is this campground has a lot of potential it could be good

We absolutely LOVED our stay.. went down w friends and family.. rented a whole row of cabins, the handicapped cottage and an RV spot for our group . Only complaint would be we reported that the toilet was clogged in one of the cabins on Saturday several times.. Noone ever came to fix it.. so everyone from that cabin had to go to the public restrooms or use the bathroom in one of the other cabins we rented . We left out Monday morning.. still Noone came to fix it... Loved all of the activities they had planned.. the pool was so nice to cool off in.. had so much fun doing the murder mystery met some funny people!! The guys loved fishing at the piers this is the 2bd summer we have come here and will definitely be back again!

We chose Camp Cardinal for the quad site. Our 4 campers all facing a center court. That was the highlight of our trip. It was a decent location to Busch gardens and Williamsburg. The campground itself was awful. Nobody has mowed the rental spots before or during our week there. The brick patios were overgrown with weeds between the pavers. The firepit was broken. Water pressure was weak at the best of times. The water was brown so not drinkable even for pets. The bath house looked more like a filthy truck stop than a resort. I can’t recommend it at all.

I had a lot of hope for this vacation and unfortunately did not see the newest reviews from a month ago before we left. While the staff was friendly and very professional, the campground itself was not worth the money we spent. Both of the bathhouses were half opened and the stalls that were open were absolutely filthy. We were there for a week and they were never cleaned. There was hair and dirt and grime in each one. They had human waste and smelled horrible. The water was not any better. Even after showering, I felt dirty and my hair felt unclean.

The camp store was great. It had a few items that were super helpful, we loved being able to grab some dippin dots while at the pool and thankfully they sold water in gallons. The prices were also fantastic and weren't overpriced at all.

While I appreciate the kindness of the staff, we will not be returning nor would we recommend it to family/friends.
