Always love going to salt house. Altho the last time my family and I went there was a group of people in a campsite near ours where a women was yelling, cussing and slamming doors for hours around midnight which isn’t anyones fault but the people screaming themselves. Also ticks seem to be very bad this year. Other than that I love going to salt house! Front gate attendants are very nice and helpful! Beaches are nice. Bathrooms are very clean. Hot water for showers. Campsites are nice. Can’t wait for our next trip!!

I didn't even get to stay and I was not going to stay after the way I was treated the man in the little house at the gate lord to me yelled at me and disrespected me for no reason! I felt very very sad because I have been coming there my whole life and have never been treated like he treated me he threw his hand up and said he did not care.. i bring alit of people there and money to salt house by claiming all the time that's my favorite place but I will not be coming back unless he is gone.. that was out right disgusting of him to treat me a 32 year old woman and my 12 year old daughter.

I think it would be great for the camp grounds around Philpott to start some type of summer actives for kids while camping. It could be as simple as nature talk at rhe amphitheater at salt house. Fishing lessons at the shelters. Teaching kids about the different fish in the lake. You could even charge a small fee or ask for donations to get kids involved.

The main bathhouse was spotless! Even smelled good! My complaint is how close the campsites were. I go camping to relax and hear nature. This campground had the closest sites I've ever seen which is a shame because I have nothing else negative to say. Our site was sandwiched between two others and they were about 15 feet apart at most! I could hear the conversations on the other campsites. I was very disappointed. The lake was beautiful and the store/restaurant nearby were great!!

Site selection is important if you don’t want to boil in the sun. Bath houses are clean, campground is clean, nice hiking trails, lake is lovely. Ticks were a big problem so be prepared with tick repellent.

The camp ground was wonderful! Beware that if you are in the upper 50’s it is going to feel uphill both ways. Still very beautiful place to visit. We were there for the holiday weekend. Some didn’t seem to care that there was a quiet hour and was using a generator in the tent area passed quiet hour.

Bathhouse is clean and the water is hot. The sites are well cared for and we had an amazing stay. We will definitely be back.

Love Salthouse Branch. It’s a great place to camp. Recreation.gov is very easy to use.
