About Salthouse Branch

Salthouse Branch Campground is nestled on the shores of Philpott Lake in the rugged foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. The park is located in a rural and sparsely populated part of Franklin County near the small community of Henry. Philpott Lake's clear water and natural shoreline make it a unique place for visitors to enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking and camping. Booked online for a campsite near the water. When I arrived I was told that The campsite chosen was not available and already occupied. I was then sent to three different campsites all of which were also occupied. Was finally given a campsite not on the water that was much smaller than originally intended. Dogs barking all night, and local sheriff driving by site with high beams on until well after dark. I left a day early.
