It’s always great to stay at Matthews Arm campground. This time we were lucky to get to the Star Talk and learn more about the night skies above us

Nice campground and clean facilities. Sites are little close and noisy, as expected for a crowded weekend. Was disappointed to discover the loudest noise was the campground host's generator. Didn't seem to set a good example.

Site A51 is a sunny site with nice tent area. It was clean and so were the bathrooms.

Always love staying here on Shenandoah trips. Secluded, but not too backcountry, with great nearby hikes.

Campsite A043 does not contain a flat area to place a tent and the vehicle parking area is also at a slope so it is not ideal for RVs either. Would suggest picking a different site.

The facilities and volunteers were great, we appreciated the proximity to the trails. The only problem was that the the camp pads/area for tenting is quite small. It was difficult to set 2 tents up (one 3p and one 4p) in one square. I mention this so people can keep it in mind when multiple tents will be utilized for a 6p space. I will say that the Bear boxes were AWESOME - large, elevated and good protection against the rain (which we experienced ALL weekend).

Awesome Bear Boxes, Two parking spots side by side, slightly small tent pad - hard to fit more than 2x 2p tents on this space. Slight slope.
