We love Matthew’s Arm because it is quiet and above the mosquito line. Camp host was amazing and we had an incredible time enjoying the trails. Big Meadow is more central and has not amenities but is busier and louder. With two boys under 10, Matthew’s Arm is the perfect place to relax in the cool(er) mountain summer air!

I had a fantastic stay at this campground! The lack of cell service made it easy to truly unplug and enjoy the quiet. The bathrooms were clean, which made the whole experience even better.

This is a wonderful campground and a great area to visit. The majority of sites are shady and can accommodate both rvs and tents, but be aware that many of the sites on the outer A-loop receive full sun most of the day (odd-numbered sites A073-A111). That said, they are ideal for larger rvs, with long, back-in driveways. Sites on the top of the hill (A56-A59) are best suited for tents. Check the driveway lengths posted in the site descriptions. I also want to give you a heads up regarding sites A006 and A008: other campers may need to walk through your campsite (or at best, along the side of your driveway) in order to reach the bathrooms. There is no designated parking space or walkway for bathroom access at that particular location. (Note: this campground does not have showers.) For hiking, there is a very nice trail going around the campground, but it is not suited for strollers. You can also take a trail that leads to Elkwallow Wayside, about 2 mi from the campground. It's a mostly easy trail that follows the contour of the hillside, without any extreme changes in elevation. All in all, this is a great place to visit!

It was a beautiful, quiet campground. A lovely site, and I wish we had stayed longer.

Site B121 was exactly as described and shown on the site. The 3 trees in the pic made it perfect for a hammock. Bear box at every site. The campground is perfectly situated between 2 hikes on the AT

Tent platforms are incredibly small (1 small-medium sized tent, max), and so rocky that it’s impossible to stake it. Sites are right on top of one another.
The park is beautiful, facilities were clean and functional.

Very clean bathrooms. No contact with the host, and I had a question which could not be answered. The hosts need to come round and see people as they check in.
