The bathrooms were spotlessly clean! Thanks to the cleaning staff for that. No one likes using a filthy restroom. Good job!

We camped in the C loop in mid-September. It was a little more private than the other loops. It was a very nice campsite, we enjoyed it very much. There were some groups partying all night and several families (which didn't mix well when a small child was woken up in the middle of the night and shrieked for a few hours). Very enjoyable, will return again. Only a short ride out of DC.

We were in site C5 and it was great - very large and private. We only wish there had been a little more cell service. Overall, though, a beautiful park. We loved it.

This was my first visit to the Park's camping facilities. I took spot C-23, which is a smaller space since it was just me camping by myself (one of these days I'll get my wife to go with me!).
It's a bit of a drive to get to the camping sites from the park entrance, but that's fine with me because it keeps things secluded. The sites themselves are kept up well. At the Oak Ridge campground, each site has its own fire ring. Instructions laid out on the website tell campers to leave their ash/wood in the fire pit, which is good advice. You don't want people dumping ash on the forest floor that might still have embers in it. The problem is, my fire ring was full of ash, mud, etc, when I arrived; it had clearly not been emptied in some time. I ended up shoveling out the muddy gunk and old ash with a piece of tree bark, since there was no way I was going to get a fire lit on top of all that mess.
Aside from that, the campsite was clean and there was a level spot for my small, 2 person tent. I brought my own firewood (federal rules say you need to bring USDA approved firewood that is pest-free, which you can buy at grocery and hardware stores) but I supplemented it with downed wood from the surrounding area, of which there is a good amount. Just don't rely on it, since it might be wet or rotten. Your best bet is to purchase your own wood and bring it in with you.
I met one of the Rangers and he was nice guy, very helpful and approachable; some reviews here mention Rangers acting like jerks, but this wasn't my experience at all. I went during the middle of the week, and was one of the only campers in the area; if you go on the weekend, I suspect it will be a bit more busy and you'll have to deal with people, loud music, parties, etc.
I enjoyed my time, and will go camping there again.
