About Turkey Run Ridge Group

Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground has nine wooded group campsites which can accommodate a maximum of 25 to 40 people per site. Located in Prince William Forest Park, 35 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., the park's land was set aside during the Great Depression. In 1935 the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began restoring the previously over-farmed acreage, converting it to recreational lands for public use. The CCC built trails, dams, and cabins, making the park a wonderful place for recreation and relaxation. Parking is limited at Turkey Run Ridge Campground. It is recommended that visitors carpool when camping at Turkey Run Ridge Campground.

What Guests Are Saying

Turkey Run Ridge Group offers an excellent camping experience with spacious, well-maintained sites, great fire rings, and convenient heated bathrooms with hot water. The friendly staff and well-kept hiking trails enhance the overall experience, making it ideal for scout troops and families. Some minor issues, like bright lights and unannounced water shut-offs, were noted, but these did not significantly detract from the enjoyment of the park.

We camped at site I with our scout troop. Lots of space for our group. During Saturday, we did one of the orienteering courses and enjoyed the park. It was nice to be able to camp at a location this late in the year with open toilet facility. Only issue we had was finding a water point...it was quite a ways from our site, near site A. Unless we missed a closer water point. Overall, great weekend.

Nice area in the forest. Intended for big group camping which can be noisy until about 10pm. Bathroom are near by with a good stock of firewood. I brought a rake to clean my campground site since it wasn’t clean or debri.

The campground was in great condition. Bathrooms were clean and maintainedcall weekend, cut fire wood was plentiful. Hiking in Saturday was fantastic, and we made it down to the pyrite mibe site.

Loved that the site was private, but not isolated. It was close to the parking lot and bathrooms, but not TOO close to either.
It was close to hiking and had lots of options for tents and fire pits so it made it perfect for our group. We can’t wait to go back.

Family of 2 adults and 2 children had a wonderful first time camping experience for the kids. The camp ground was clean and the kids had loads of fun making smores at night. It was a wonderful place and we hope to get back soon. Thank You!

We have used Turkey Run for our scouting group many times over the years and always have a good time. The facilities are well cared for. The staff is helpful and available when needed. We plan on returning in the spring for a multi-troop event and cannot wait.

Our Girl Scout troop had the best time! Park Rangers even helped us complete a service project!
