About Stony Fork Campground

Stony Fork, tucked in a dense forest setting, is located at the foot of Big Walker Mountain beside the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway. The East Fork of Stony Fork Creek winds through the campground, providing a serene setting for trout fishing and water play for visitors at the welcoming campground. The 1 mile Stony Fork Nature Trail takes campers through groves of pine and hardwoods, and the campground loop road makes for a scenic walk, too.

We stayed here last summer and loved it so much that we came back again in August 2022 for a week. The campsites are private, shaded, and well-kept. It is within an hour of many fun, day exploration sites. The night skies were amazing.
However, at the very top of the list were the wonderful campground hosts! Roger was, without a doubt, the friendliest, most helpful, Hospitable Host ever!! Gary and his wife were also exception.
Thank you for a great week.

I was in site 7, the only pull-through in the campground. It was easy ingress and egress. Plenty of trees all around, so that I had beautiful, peaceful views no matter which window I looked out. Soon after I pulled in, Rodger, the host, came to greet me and said if I had any questions, he would be happy to help. He was friendly and showed me where to start walking to get to the Nature Trail.
The trail is within easy walking distance. I had to take the short loop because my dog can't walk very far, but if you have nothing holding you back, the Three Sisters Trail branches off from the Nature Trail and is about 5 miles long.
My only regret is that I didn't know how nice a campground this is. Trees everywhere, shaded walk through the campground with streams nearby, occasional spottings of gentle wildlife. I would have stayed at least 3 nights if I had known. Highly recommended.
