About Stony Fork Campground

Stony Fork, tucked in a dense forest setting, is located at the foot of Big Walker Mountain beside the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway. The East Fork of Stony Fork Creek winds through the campground, providing a serene setting for trout fishing and water play for visitors at the welcoming campground. The 1 mile Stony Fork Nature Trail takes campers through groves of pine and hardwoods, and the campground loop road makes for a scenic walk, too.

We very much enjoyed our visit. The campground was clean and quiet with sites wooded for privacy. Only two complaints.
1) Not allowed to bring in firewood and there was nowhere close to purchase it.
2) The dump station leaves a lot to be desired. Only one dumping station and no signs to warn other campers to not pull up beside you. Center station was cemented shut. Water hose to far away.

I’m going to say excellent, although I didn’t get to use my reservation due to travel time being late.
I did stay at Doughton campground and liked it very much. I’m sure Stony Fork would have been just as great, safe, clean and most of all, a great experience!

Arrival was challenging due to the lack of signage - either covered by tree branches or non-existent. No where does it say there's a campground, just bird watching. It is a beautiful park with all sites in deep shade. Interior roads are narrow but well maintained. We were able to get level on nice asphalt pad with good size grass space with picnic table, fire ring and lantern hook. Shower and restroom buildings clean. Sites are 30 amp only with some spigots throughout for filling containers. Water for filling your rig is available across the highway with the dump station. This is a very narrow space! While the park fits big rigs, it is not big rig friendly per se. There is no place to unhook a toad so either do it before you arrive or plan to block the interior road. There are no paid staff here, no office. Volunteer hosts are helpful and are easy to find.

Nice well kept quiet campground. Hosts were very friendly and helpful . Nice shaded sites. If you hike the campground trail look for the "Bear' in the tree. The only con I have was with the dump station, only one dump location and water was not nearby.
I would/will go back.
