About Charbonneau Park and Campground

Charbonneau Park in Eastern Washington was named one of America's Top 100 Family Campgrounds. It is located on Lake Sacajawea, formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River. The park was named for Toussaint Charbonneau, an interpreter for Lewis and Clark and husband of Sacajawea, the famous Shoshone interpreter on the Corps of Discovery. The park provides excellent recreational opportunities for boaters, campers, upland and waterfowl hunters and anglers.

What Guests Are Saying

Charbonneau Park and Campground is praised for its beautiful, well-maintained grounds, spacious sites, and friendly staff, making it a popular spot for relaxation and outdoor activities, particularly near the river. Many reviews highlight the park's cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere, with some recommending it for RV camping due to limited water hookups. While there are some concerns about understaffing and the need for restroom upgrades, overall, visitors express a strong desire to return and enjoy the park's scenic views and community feel.

There was an epidemic of spiders! They were on everything! Very annoying! Our site was very dusty with no grass. The grass around us was dry and brown. We loved the campground, but not our site.

Go often, always a good time. Park is clean, restrooms & showers clean, sites are roomy, lots of shade, nice beach/swim area in very close proximity to RV park..

We stayed at site 23 and 24 in June. The grounds look nice and the camp host were extremely pleasant. The bathrooms were what you would expect. We brought 2 boats and parked them in our pull throughs which was nice. The very bad was the earwig infestation. I woke up to dozens of earwigs on the tarp outside our tent. The next 2 nights we did not stay in the tent because the earwigs were crawling all over it. We think the earwigs may have been dropping from the trees as well. When we got home there were earwigs in the ski locker. We used site 24 for our outdoor kitchen. The earwigs got inside our ice chests. The park is very nice, however I will not camp here again.

Park is clean and quiet with lots of green grass. Kids played in the sand and water. BUT, my biggest complaint is really the crazy amounts of spiders. We knew the spiders (and flies and other river bugs) were bad when we were there, but we found them for DAYS after our trip on our tow vehicle and trailer. Not sure if it's like that all over the campground or not.

I love camping at Charbonneau park, except this last visit on 7/19/21 I was walking my dog (toy poodle) on her leash and a German shepherd from site 11 was not tied up-and charged at my dog. Pulled her off her collar and had her clenched in his mouth. I screamed somebody come get your dog. Needless to say we had to leave the park and get her to emergency care at the cost of $925. She will be okay, thank goodness. All the people say”but my dog is so nice” she doesn’t need to be tied up. Nice or not, they need to be tied and people need to be responsible for their pets.
