Sun Village Resort

We camp here every year with our family and friends. It is beautiful! We live in our swim suits and spend all our time on the lake. The staff works hard to keep this place clean and organized. My only complaint is to read the FINE print …no mats or tents in RV sites. We got dinged a $100 fee for using a mat outside our RV. Lesson learned. We will return again this year with all our kids and make memories ❤️

We love the area and have been coming to Sun Village for 30 years. Sadly, we will not be back. No one in the office most days. Bathroom not cleaned for 6 days although someone finally replaced the empty TP roll, trash all over the floor, I cleaned up a couple times, grass is all dead in most spots, just weeds and dirt, off leash dogs all over the place, multiple rules which is fine but no one around to ensure they are followed. I told someone to leash their dog and I was the bad guy. We’re looking down the road for a better place to spend our money.

The lake is beautiful and has easy access from the campground. Weather you have a boat or are just fishing from shore/docks the fishing is great!! There are multiple areas to hike and explore around the lake. This campground is several big steps above dry camping. It has tent sites, camper sites (many offering full hook ups), and lodging options. There are 2 restrooms with male and female sides that have toilets, sinks, and quarter showers. This should go without saying, but I see complaints in previous reveiws, obviously it is very likely bugs or spiders may be seen in as they are campground bathrooms. Their restrooms are far better than a pit toilet with no running water! This is an older campground with all the quirks and charms and is showing its age so don't expect a fancy all inclusive resort experience. If you need to be connected to your devices this is not the campground for you! There is very limited cell service in the campground and no wifi. But if you go on a quick 10min drive you get full service if you need it. Campground is located just a skip and a hop away from town. If you enjoy authentic camping this is the place for you. If you need asphalt and concrete, fully level sites, perfectly manicured landscaping, and internet go somewhere else!

I rarely ever leave reviews. After our recent experience at this “resort”, I feel I must.
First off, we’ve camped here three times in the last five years. The annual family reunion is at Blue Lake. The first time here we were made aware that the place was under new ownership. From the sound of it, the owner bought the property for his kids to run it. The kids were job / income challenged.

So the first time we camped there they were trying to open the store. The young girls who were there were friendly and wanted some input on what things to carry in the store etc. the grass and every thing was probably 3/5. Not too bad.

The second time there, we had our adult daughter with us. Everything seemed ok until our daughter went to rent a boat. She had an interaction with an older gentleman who was in his forties working in the office. Supposedly, he was incredibly rude to her and was giving her grief about not having a fishing license even though she wasn’t going to be fishing. Her son was the one who would be fishing.
I wrongly chalked it up to our daughter just being emotional.
The condition of the place had deteriorated. Lots of tall weeds.
3/5 on condition.

This last spring we came back. Now the store is closed. The website states all visitors must check in. We attempted to check in. There was a handheld radio hanging over the locked office door from the inside. Trying to use the radio to check in resulted with the guy running the place to yell and get aggressive with us over the radio, then once again when he got to the door to open it.
To the point my wife was afraid to deal with him and went to the truck.
We chose to leave all together. The interaction was enough to where we will not go back. I’ve never had a campground host not be friendly and we’ve camped at a lot of the campgrounds in Washington.
Also we noticed the campground was in terrible shape. No longer any grass. Pretty much overgrown weeds everywhere.

Starting it like this...if you go to this place expecting a fancy, all inclusive vibe you think when people say resort thats on you, did you even look at the pictures? Truthfully it was like every other fishing resort ive been to, the cabins have history, the lot has history and its got the old timey vibes. The cabins were the nicest ive stayed in, pretty clean and have a/c cant complain when its 100° out, we also liked the deck. The swimming area was decent, I picked up a bunch of garbage and cigarette butts because humans are gross and my true only complaint is I wish the giant rocks weren't separating the land and water, my mama heart dropped everytime my toddler tripped and missed the rocks by a few inches. The docks are a little sketch and definitely need to be updated. The playset is not safe and the ground is covered in goat heads, side note DONT RENT CABIN 16 all around it is goat heads and a massive amount. As for other reviews ive seen, the grass wasnt knee high, the office guy wasnt rude he was just never there and the office was never open, it was quiet the whole time even though the place was busssy. If you are looking for cabins that are up to date, have tv, are spot less with hotel vibes this place ain't for you, if you love the idea of camping or cabin sleeping in a place that brings you back to the 90s this is the place. No service or wifi but the whole point of being out here is spending time with loved ones and enjoying the beautiful gift nature blessed us with, not doing what you do at home, staring at a screen all day. thats not a vacation. We did have service by swimming area and infront of cabin 10, The bathrooms by swimming area are very gross and dirty fair warning. Would i stay here again? Maybe but wouldn't be my go to, this place has potential to be great. My husband's grandpa kept moving the sprinkler so it wasnt in one area the whole time because there isnt a single worker maintaining anything garbage everywhere, sprinklers going all day in one spot for days, people left shoes and stuff by the swim area. The place needs work
