What Guests Are Saying
Gifford Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting with spacious sites and easy access to the water, making it a favorite for many campers. Visitors appreciate the clean restrooms, friendly hosts, and the campground's quiet atmosphere, especially during off-peak seasons. However, some reviews mention concerns about the closeness of campsites, noise from neighboring campers, and rising fees for services like water and dump stations. Overall, it remains a highly recommended spot for relaxation and outdoor activities like kayaking.

It was a little misleading because it said there were beaches but there was not a good beach. We had to drive to find a good beach.

No campground host and someone took our camp spot... We had to wait on hold for over an hour and then costumer service was not sure what to do.... They ended up put us in an empty spot and said we where lucky they where not charging us the fee to change our reservation ... It was about an hour and a half before it was resolved

The campground was clean and easy to find. I wish the swimming area was clearly marked but once we found it we got to enjoy a wonderful day.

Campground very quiet and nice. Good view of lake from all sites. They say potable water available 31 April but there wasn't any even by the third week of May. I questioned one of the grounds workers and his take was, "I guess they just haven't gotten around to it yet". There was no camp host and even the fish cleaning station was all locked up.

It was odd that they had piles of pine needles everywhere. They were blocking half of the entrance/exit and swept into the middle of the road everywhere else. I got an email saying we would have bathrooms with water, this was not the case. It was quiet and beautiful otherwise.

This was fall camping at its finest. Very few campsites were occupied. We hiked around the area and enjoyed the fall colors, saw eagles soaring, spotted a woodpecker, some nuthatches and lots of water fowl. sat in front of campfires every evening, and plan to be back first thing in the spring.

Gifford is a great campground — but only during spring and summer. The BIG negative is that on October 1st the NPS shuts off ALL the water, even when the weather is NOT freezing — campground spigots, bathroom, showers, and dump station. And they lock the bathroom!
That leaves the pit toilets, which are poorly maintained (e. g., broken toilet seat, not repaired) and cleaned and restocked with paper.
The boat docks also need maintenance, (loose cleats & a dock hinge pin which was about ready to fall out — I pounded it back in) which has apparently been overlooked.
Taxes and user fees go up, service goes down, especially after October 1st. Sad.
