About Gifford Campground

Gifford Campground sits along the northern shoreline of Lake Roosevelt. The facility is popular among hunters and fishermen, but is also comfortable for families. There is a clear view of the lake from most sites in the campground. A boat launch and beach are located within the facility.   Lake Roosevelt is a 130-mile lake on the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. Named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it is part of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area managed by the National Park Service.

We loved the campground, but we were the only ones, it seemed, that kept our dog tied up in camp, and on a leash when we were at the beach-and no one seemed to care, The next time our kids camped at this same campground two weeks later-the loose dogs were even worse-so we were glad we didn't go that time. This had a lot to do with our cancellation of our last reservation-we did not want our dog to be bothered by these loose dogs and have a potential dog fight with her tied up! PLEASE help by making this rule a rule that Must be followed!!

When we arrived at our reserved site, there was a boat and trailer parked in our site. We waited about a half hour in 100 degree heat for a car to return to move the boat. They thought that since the site was empty it wasn't reserved so they took off to drive to a place with cell service to reserve the site on-line. This is a dumb system. There should be a way to show reserved sites at the site, like the Forest Service puts reserved tags on the posts. There is a host at the campground that could do this.
With the very hot conditions, it seemed like every RV in the campground was running a generator. Most everyone complied with the 10 pm shut down requirement.
