About Hunters Campground

Hunters Campground sits along the northern shoreline of Lake Roosevelt. The facility is popular among hunters and fishermen, but is also comfortable for families. Although there is no view of the lake directly from the campground, a boat launch and beach are located within the facility.  Lake Roosevelt is a 130-mile lake on the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. Named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it is part of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area managed by the National Park Service.

Nice quiet spot on the river. Saw some deer run through the camp. Also heard some turkeys

Camped there while deer hunting nearby. The campground was clean and orderly.
The only thing lacking was a garbage can which was a pretty big inconvenience.

It was so peaceful during the week instead of weekends, we loved our time at Hunters. Not sure why but no dumpsters were available to dump your garbage in so it was pretty much pack it in pack it out. And as a added bonus the fishing was great.

This is a nice campground in a nice location, however the problem is its' upkeep. There was significant amounts of garbage in our fire pit and in about a dozen others that we observed. Obviously the onus is on campers to not be slobs, but after spending 30 days exploring parks in Canada, this campground was the worst we encountered. The other issue is that we found black bear scat and bear prints in the immediate area, coupled with lots of fruit trees, garbage is a recipe for disaster. Secondly, NPS has instigated an online reservation system (no first come first served) and there's no cell service! In October this seems silly.
