Kamloops Island Campground

No directions our site loop which a parking lot. Had to hike downhill a 100 yards or so to get to site. Not happening at my age. Would have had to make min 4 trips. And then to pack it out. It may have said that on the reservation but I never saw it. We drove home. Very disappointing.

Beautiful location. Great shady location to relax by the water. Enjoyed the random military fly by at eye level. Once or twice a day, jets fly low over the lake. It needs a on site host to regulate the campers and parking.
Loop 1 has camp sites with parking. Loop 2 has a small lot big enough for the additional sites that you carry your camping supplies to. But loop 1 campers will fill and block the loop 2 parking lot with their additional vehicles and boats.
Also needs a host to curtail the people who hide in their cars and shoot up drugs into their veins. Had to ask county dispatch to send rangers a few times, but rarely took time to actually patrol the area.

Bathrooms were managed good enough, dumpster was overflowing until I called offsite management to attend to the issue.

Great place that could be better run with an on site host.

Bathroom was not clean. Highway traffic was loud. There was a man in a truck who kept driving around at night, and was sleeping in his truck without a campsite permit.

If I say what a great campground this is everyone will only want to come here! If ya just want to camp with a priceless, private view, you found it!

Verily clean and quiet campground right on the lake. Located very convenient before crossing the border.

Very nice campground and well kept. Sites are pretty spread out and large. There are a lot of detourants from bee's and moths. You only have to worry about mosquitoes lol. Only downside is there is really no access to the water with kyaks and no boat launch. You have to pack kyaks through the tent sites to get to the water and it's steep coming back up. We had to load our kyaks and go up river. Other than that it's beautiful!

Campground is nice, but lots of ants. We always expect bugs, but they were in overdrive. Neighbors were very loud late into the night. Campsite 3 has lots of room and privacy.

We pulled in un-planned, with no reservations. Having to pay for the spot on line was a pain in the ... I would rather have a paybox and envelopes. I had to have internet service and do it all on my phone which did not scan for QR codes. The campground itself was very nice and quiet.

I was a late season visitor, having camped there Friday October 7th. I was the only one in the camp ground, which I was doing on my motorcycle. However, two families stopped and had a picnic or stretch in the walk-in campsites while I was there. Generally the campground was tidy however, there were no garbage receptacles; as such, many people had left their garbage in the fire pits. The fire pits were closed for a fire ban. It was clear that the campground had not been serviced in a couple of weeks as there were still tags from camping reservations on the posts from the third week of September. The out houses were tidy and stocked. I actually deposited my garbage in a garbage can inside one out house, though I doubt that that receptacle had been intended for that purpose. When I passed by Kettle Falls camp ground, I stopped and took a look just for fun. I noted that there was a garbage container there but still, only one camper.
