What Guests Are Saying
Kalaloch is praised for its stunning natural beauty, proximity to the beach, and great accommodations, making it a favorite destination for many campers. Visitors enjoy the tidepools, beautiful sunsets, and clean facilities, with some noting the helpfulness of the rangers. However, concerns include the need for better maintenance of the campground, issues with broken facilities, and a complicated reservation process. Despite these drawbacks, many campers express a strong desire to return.

What a perfect location! We had a terrific site amongst the mossy tall trees with room for two tents. The bathrooms were clean and stocked and there are lots of places to put your trash. Walked right down onto the beach for a killer sunset and saw the Tree of Life. Highly recommend!!

What a lovely and special place. Kalaloch beach is an expansive sandy beach that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys walking on the beach, for families with kids and for taking in beautiful sunsets. The camp host was hands down the best host ever. Helpful, responsive and genuinely cares about your experience.

Kalaloch is a beautiful place to walk the beach and look at tidal pools during low tide. There were three problems I noted during my recent stay. The first and most serious was the terrible condition of the restrooms in the campground. There was no soap. There was filth, everywhere. The smell was overpowering. Granted, they need to be completely redone (the facilities are beyond repair) but still, they could have installed some soap dispensers and cleaned them once in a while. The second problem was that Kalaloch suffers from what I call "Washington dog owner carelessness" and by that I mean well over half of the visitors to the place bring their dogs and many do not use leashes despite the requirement. They're running amok on the beach and cause a distraction to what would otherwise be a great experience. Finally, despite the clearly labeled "no campfires on the beach" signs, there were multiple groups with campfires on the beach, some of them quite large, and no visible enforcement of the rules. Despite these shortcomings, we had a wonderful time and I'd encourage people to visit. But...Kalaloch needs to know that they can improve, particularly by putting soap in restrooms.

These sites are somewhat small and compact, but they're clean and the area is very nice. Good bathroom facilities and water spigots.
Our site specifically (A008) had a broken grill on the fire-ring, which was inconvenient but ultimately we were able to make it work. The canopy protects pretty well from light rain, and overall the area is damp, so it stays nice and cool. Be sure however to bring kindling wood or a firestarter if you plan on burning wood. Additionally, consider having a good means to pound stakes into the ground, which was mostly embedded with lots of small gravel and dense earth.
The sites also have great access to the beach; our site was maybe 150ft from the beach entrance, and many of the sites even overlook the beach, which I would highly recommend if you can get them.
Finally, there were a lot of families and the campground seems very popular in the summertime, so if you're looking for a bit more privacy this isn't the best choice, however everyone was overall very polite and respected quiet hours and their neighbors well.
