We had reservations in the main campground, we arrived a couple days early so we stayed at southbeach, wonderful spot so we gave up our spot at the campground and stayed at south beach. We did notice the campground was fully booked on line, when we drove thru the park was mostly vacant. Not really happy with the new camping reservations. The local customers that support the park year round can not get good spots unless you book a few days in advance, if you work you must plan ahead, that means most of the bookings are not in the great spots. Also way to many good spots were empty for days. Maybe look into how the state and county parks run their reservation system. We love Kalaloch and enjoy the off season to. Our stays are aways awesome.

Perfectly as advertised! You are definitely unplugged but still have the amenities needed for extra comfort. We took our 2 & 3 year olds with us and the canopy cover provided enough shade in the early evening to go to bed before the sun went down. Being steps from the beach was a huge perk! The mercantile shop just down the road was a great spot to pick up local firewood and a quick soft serve cone.

We stayed at a very small spot next to the beach. People drove too fast and were distracted looking at the beach most of the time. I felt unsafe for my kids so I was on edge most of the time.

The campground is really nice and so close to the beach! The restrooms and water sources were spaced around the campground (sink in men's room wasn't working when we were there). When we were there (7/5-7/7) it was extremely quiet at night, which actually surprised us (in a good way). The beach is easy to walk on and Ruby Beach is a short drive away. Sunset was amazing.
The campground is pretty isolated, so come prepared with everything.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- The Kalaloch Ranger Station offers information during summer; contact them for hours.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Fees & deposits
- A valid Olympic National Park pass is required for camping and recreation at Kalaloch. The Washington State Park Discover Pass is not accepted.
Safety & rules
- There is a 7-day maximum stay limit during the reservation season, and a collective 21-day limit for all Olympic National Park campgrounds. Kalaloch is open year-round on a first-come, first-serve basis outside the reservation season.
- Use caution when swimming due to drifting logs; do not play on beach logs, especially during high tide.
- Always check tide charts when hiking; some areas may be impassable at high tide.
- Riptides are common; swimming is at your own risk.
Site capacity
- Most sites at Kalaloch cannot accommodate large RVs or trailers; check site details before reserving.
Vehicles & parking
- One RV and one tow vehicle are allowed per site if they fit in the driveway and do not damage vegetation.
- A maximum of two passenger vehicles is allowed per site, provided they fit in the driveway and do not damage vegetation.
General
- Campsites with ocean views fill quickly; book early. Outside of the reservation season, Kalaloch campground is open year round on a first-come, first-served basis (weather permitting).

- Campground roads are narrow with low branches; large RVs and trailers may have difficulty accessing campsites.
Fires & fuel
- Gathering wood is prohibited; firewood can be purchased at Kalaloch Lodge nearby.
- Do not move firewood; obtain it at your destination to protect forests from pests.
