As always in times past (my friends and I have been coming for several years) it's a delightful place. The bathrooms are kept clean and stocked. The grounds are clean too with minor signs of previous campers.
I thought I saw on the website that they have water so we didn't bring much this time. But no, no water. Fortunately we had enough for drinking and used the river water for dishes.
Enjoy!

The hosts were very nice. We were a bit caught off guard finding out that the dumpster was removed from the campground and had been moved to where the host is making it "pack in-pack out" for this particular campground. The thatcher ants were out in full force this year, which was a bit of a nuisance. Otherwise, I love coming back to this campground every chance I can. No cell service, truly being off the grid is so nice!

Bill and Jill were amazing hosts, kept the camp clean and bathrooms were spotless! Really nice hosts with great conversations, kept our camp and stuff safe while we were out on our daily adventures! No real cell coverage at the campground for us, were on Verizon.
From the campground it's a short hop to Mt Rainier and Paradise, cell coverage along the way in spots, note that reservations are needed between 7:00am and 3:00pm to get into the park, after 3:00pm access is open to all. There was kind of a stampede to get into the park and to Paradise at 3:00 but on the way down we had the park to ourselves.
Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is also close by and has great food! Also worth note is the gondola ride to the top for views of Rainier and other local mountains. Additionally they offer a shuttle to Paradise that skips the reservation system if you didn't make a res ahead of time.
There is plenty of trails to hike that start right at the campground entrance, we really liked the one across the street along the river.
Another day trip worth note was Bumping Lake, it's a reservoir created in the early 1900s but they left all the stumps from the trees, makes it a really cool place to hike and kayak.
All in all great camp site. We for sure recommend it.

There were 23 cars parked in the day use area the Sunday that I arrived, with about 35 to 45 people in the area. I took a walk through the day use area and noticed that only one car had tag in window indicating that they had paid the day use fee. In the evening, after everyone had left, I took another walk through the day use area and noticed it totally littered with garbage, watermelon rinds all over the place, soda cans, hot dog and hamburger buns, paper plates, Potatoe chip bags. paper, plastic rapers, discarded clothing, etc., etc., all over the place.
Twenty-two vehicles didn't pay the day use fee so the US Forest service lost out on $220.00 on income it could have used.
it is a shame that people would litter like this, as there was a garbage can in the area.
A ranger should patrol the area and fine people who do not pay the day use fee.
