What Guests Are Saying
Pleasant Valley Campground is a quiet, clean, and beautiful location near the American River, offering spacious and private campsites with excellent river access and wildlife sightings. While some sites have issues with ants and downed trees, the overall experience is positive, with exceptionally clean bathrooms and a helpful camp host. Many guests enjoyed the serene atmosphere and plan to return, despite some concerns about ants and the need for maintenance.

We had a great experience. The camp sites were clean and private. The entire area was very quiet and clean. We will definitely visit this campground again.

Do not reserve site #11. ANTS! This site is not habitable for camping. Millions of ants swarm the site due to 2 ant hills within 50 feet of the site. Many downed trees yet very little sunlight gets through. Sadly the better sites were reserved yet no one showed up. We would have changed to site #9 if we would have known they would be a no show. Lodgepole Campground about 3 miles west would have been a better stay.

The camp ground itself is okay but there were so many ants. I'm not talking about hundreds....I meant billions. There were ant hills which were 50 feet from the camp site. I could not stand still at one place for more than 2 secs because ants will climb up the shoes. Every square foot, there are thousands of ants. I understand ants are part of nature but i dont think this is how a camp site should be.

The ants were everywhere! If you have a tent or a pet, I would not recommend coming here. My dog got bit by the ants as were getting setup and we had to find a different campground
