What Guests Are Saying

Windy Point Campground offers a pleasant experience with spacious campsites, beautiful river views, and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the warm, swimmable river and the proximity to hiking trails. However, some noted noise from the nearby highway and a few logistical issues, such as reservation misunderstandings and limited shade in certain areas. Overall, the campground's cleanliness and scenic surroundings make it a favorable choice for campers.

Had a fantastic experience over the 4th of July wknd! First off, the camp hosts were absolutely wonderful and helpful people. Truly a joy to interact with them. We started at site 12. Please ignore the silly review from a few weeks ago by the lady who said there wasn't even room for her tent at that site. The truth is, we backed a 16 ft camper trailer into that spot and there was STILL room for my SUV and a 4-6 person tent. (She also mentioned the "dirt was too dry", so take her opinions with a grain of salt😂). We moved to site 9 after the first night bc it opened up and had a lovely view of the river and a waterfall. The hosts were very kind about accommodating our request to move, they certainly didn't have to! There was zero traffic noise at site 9....just lovely river sounds. Also, the campground itself was full but very quiet (no rowdy guests) and very clean! We loved our time there and can't wait to head back soon!!

This campsite is on a beutiful river but really just off the freeway by Lee's than 50 yards. I don't recommend for anyone looking for peace but good for those needing a spill over site that requires reservations. Another recreation.gov site that costs way too much, destroying the greatest resource we have in free public spaces by not allowing first come first serve sites to exist in profiting off our desire to experience what we pay taxes for.

I was at site no. 11 - right next to me was another site where four people in tents camped within five feet of my trailer. They rolled in after 11:00 pm, and were talking in full voice. They got up early and started making noise.

I would not recommend this campground to anyone. My husband and I are camping lovers and try to go whenever possible. Well, this time we went with a group of 6 total and unfortunately did not get to choose the place.
Our main issues were the following-

• Our site was the smallest one I’ve ever seen. As in there wasn’t even room for our tent. Thankfully, we were able to squeeze into one of our groups sites as theirs was huge. They are either super large or too tiny to use. *we had site 12 btw.

• The dirt was so dry it got on EVERYTHING. You couldn’t step out of your tent without getting it on your shoes, pants, hands, etc. And the campground is very true to it’s name so we literally were caked in dirt once the wind blew it everywhere. My Birkenstock’s need a deep cleaning.

• The campground is not densely wooded so everything is very out in the open. Worst part of this besides it ruining the nature ambiance? The main highway is within view and therefore incredibly loud. There is a precious little waterfall by the river but that noise was almost completely drowned out by the cars and trucks passing by.

• The restrooms were very obviously downwind from us so our tent smelled like a sewer for 70% of the trip. And sadly this was a longer trip of 3 nights 4 days. Sigh.

• This facility is not very well maintained, for instance- our fire pit grate was bent in so our skillet would slide right off if not held throughout the cooking.

I will say the staff were friendly and there were more than I had ever encountered. Some wildlife patrol would ride around sporadically on a golf cart, and as soon as we arrived the camp host greeted us and gave us a sheet of rules to abide by. They sell wood in case you run out for $8 a pop (a small bundle).

We plan on never returning.

This is a very nice campground right on the Tieton River. Unfortunately it is right next to a highway so is a bit noisy.

We arrived around 3:00 pm and the site that we reserved was not the site we expected. When I booked the reservation, it was site 5 with pic showing by the river. It was basically the pic that was across from site 5. Site 5 was not even large enough for our family of 7. The host was supposed to be at site 14, but was not there. There was nothing at the host site. No tent or RV. It stated on the sign that host was to be at site 14 and was not there. I called the number to see of I could cancel, but there was a long wait. I was able too contact the managment company and spoke to a man who said he was not able to help because he was in California. We went to another campsite. I would like a refund.

We camped at our favorite campsite. With exception if the occasional whiff of the bathroom, our stay was great! Thankful for the camp host who kept the campground and facilities clean. No overflowing dumpsters! We enjoy camping here and will visit again!

I already submitted a review, but forgot to comment about the great cell service! We were surprised and anticipated being “disconnected” for a few days and disappointed just a little ;-). It’s great for emergencies and good to know we can call out or receive calls as needed. Thank you!
