What Guests Are Saying
La Wis Wis Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, private sites, great access to hiking trails, and the nearby Ohanapecosh River, making it ideal for nature lovers. While some guests noted issues with maintenance, lack of potable water, and crowded conditions, many appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the overall charm of the campground. The location near Mt. Rainier and the peaceful atmosphere during weekdays were also frequently highlighted as positive aspects of the experience.

Beautiful campground with accommodating hosts! My brother and his girlfriend arrived first and realized we would not fit at our site with two cars and two tents. They were able to quickly find the host who upgraded us at no charge to a bigger site just across from the river. After a stressful day at work, it was incredible to roll up to the sign of where to find them, find them, see the difference in sites and then be able to leave all of my worries behind. The host was also filled with great recommendations when I spoke with them. Also, be sure to check out the blue watering hole area not too far from the main campsite. We spent our last morning there and it was gorgeous.
What would have made it 5 stars? The toilets were out of order and portapotties were almost overflowing! It was BAD! And out of many people I know, I am not one to get very grossed out by bad bathroom situations as I embrace it as part of camping. However, when waste is nearing the top, it is very concerning. I debated rating this site three stars because of this but the beauty this site won me over :).

Campgrounds were beautiful and conveniently located near Mt Rainier, but every one of the porta potties were near overflowing the whole weekend we were there

I have been camping at this campground since 1955. Love the cascade mountains and everything the area has to offer. The most perfect campground for children. It is a special place for all seven of my grandchildren. From leaping off the cliff into blue hole, fishing the two rivers that converge there, collecting tiny trout trapped in Purcell creek and releasing into Cowlitz river, biking the miles of paved road throughout...a lifetime of memories.

Lovely campground in the forest with excellent accessibility to the park. We drove 1 hr north to the sunrise entrance and it was the perfect day!
