What Guests Are Saying
La Wis Wis Campground offers a beautiful setting with spacious, private sites, great access to hiking trails, and the nearby Ohanapecosh River, making it ideal for nature lovers. While some guests noted issues with maintenance, lack of potable water, and crowded conditions, many appreciated the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the overall charm of the campground. The location near Mt. Rainier and the peaceful atmosphere during weekdays were also frequently highlighted as positive aspects of the experience.

We love La Wis Wis! We go every year. The camp sites are not all equal (some are much bigger than others). The Blue Hole is a nice way to cool off on a hot day and our kids love scooting and biking all over the camp ground.

There was a problem with my reservation for a particular favored campsite at La Wis Wis. The campground hosts said it was double booked by recreation.gov. There happened to be a multiple site that was not reservable and almost as nice, but we were not happy having to search for one that was inferior to our historic favorite. If we had arrived later in the day, we would likely have been out of luck for a streamside site.
A full explanation of the mistake was never offered. Beware that the reservation system or those implementing it at this site were not reliable. Unless systems have improved, and given the popularity of the location, you should brace yourself for challenges, arrive early, and make backup plans accordingly.

The campground was easy to access and it was easy to find our site. Many great amenities near by and the surroundings were amazing.

My daughter and I planned a last minute overnight car camping trip to Mount Rainier. I chose this campground because I could make a reservation to have a guaranteed camp spot, which had open sites on the river. The location was great as it was close to the park entrance. We had a great hike at Sunrise to Burroughs 3. We then had a scenic hour drive to the campground which was easy to navigate. Upon locating our reserved campsite, there were other people in it all setup with there camper?? We found 2 groundskeepers and explained the situation. They were friendly and just as confused but eager to accommodate. I told them that on the way to the office we saw another open site on the river, I said it looked comparable to our reserved spot, so could we just take that one? They agreed! It was exactly what I was hoping for. We explored around the campground and swam in the Blue Hole, enjoyed grilling over a campfire. What a beautiful location, however there was litter all over the grounds even though there was plenty of trash cans???? All in all we enjoyed our very memorable trip!
