Walupt Lake Campground

We Had a great experience here. We enjoy the lake during the day, and at night we saw the stars! It was beautiful! Definitely will go back!

Lovely setting, gorgeous lakefront site, but really odd interactions with neighbors and camp host. We had site 38 and loved the views of the lake and lakefront spot to set up. We stayed three nights, and the first evening was a dream despite the cool weather. Friday on midday we were relaxing next to our site when the madness began - groups of people carrying boats and tents right through our site without even trying to social distance. Site 37, a first come site, ended up with nearly 20 people and 6 tents - they even put a tent in OUR site (after very confusingly asking us if it was OK - we did not know that's what they meant until it was too late). These folks also tried to park their boat literally on top of our beach blanket while we were at our picnic table eating a snack. Seems like rules of site limits (people and cars) were not being followed. Very little social distancing by most people. Also saw very few mask wearers (the neighbors were covid-deniers...eek). Parking was a nightmare. Very odd use of space. Very odd experience. I'd love to go back but only if rules are being followed and I'd know I'm not next to an impromptu family reunion during a pandemic.

Campground is right on the edge of the Goat Rocks wilderness and the lake is big - lots of people kayaking and fishing. A couple of trails start right from the campground. One pit toilet was full, but the others were clean and stocked with TP through our stay. Most of the sites small, not much room for big trailers, but the sites were spaced well and fairly private from one another.
