Overall we had an enjoyable time. We came prepared for the water outage that occurred prior to our stay so did not have any issues there. The kids had a great time wading and playing in the lake. The water is so clear and clean!
Several of us hiked to Nannie Peak and then completed the Walupt Lake Loop, taking the Nannie Ridge Trail to the Pacific Crest Trail and then south to the Walupt Lake Trail. It was a beautiful hike, the skies were clear, and the mountains were out in full view! It was well worth the 9-hour, 15 mile hike!
The mosquitoes were ferocious though, so come prepared with lots of bug spray!

Worst trip experience here. They closed one of the bathrooms because the "pit tanks" were full, instead of having them cleaned out like every other year I've camped there. The water was not working and instead of providing water they just said bring your own or go to the horse camp and pump it yourself. The email notice that the water was not working came 2 days after I left for my trip but the water was not working upon arrival.
The camp hosts were not helpful at all, no customer service at all.

Walupt Lake was delightfully beautiful and serene. The water was cold and clear and the views from the lake are picturesque. We arrived in the rain which made the mosquitoes at the site quite bad but they were nonexistent at the lake. Our friends attempted the hike but turned around after two miles because the mosquitoes were unbearable. Bring bug repellent!
The camp sites are quite large and very shaded. It was much warmer by the lake. I felt like there was a lot of privacy between sites compared to others we’ve been to. The bathrooms were very clean but there was no available water. The camp host did have firewood.
The forest road in is 20 miles long but takes about an hour if you are pulling a camper- lots of washboard and deadly potholes. Take it easy and go slow!
