What a great site - #44! We were right on the river with our own riverside access from the campsite. We easily fit 4 tents and could have fit more if we wanted. We had enough parking space for 1 car and 1 smaller truck. The vault toilets were well stocked and the hosts were friendly. We really enjoyed the space and got to see a family of deer directly across from us eating along side of the river 2 times in the 3 day stay. I highly recommend it.

It would have been nice if the fire season had NOT started, however we do understand the situation. We had a wonderful time as usual.

Really nice campground with a nice selection of sites, About a quarter have river frontage some on one side and some on the other. Not a lot of potable water sites that we saw, found one, but didn't survey the whole campground, but that one was quite a ways from our site. Lots of easy RV spots from what it looked like. Bears were present and mainly at the end of the campground nearest the big dumpsters. None came near our site. The only negative was people just walking right through our camp. I mean right in front of our front door of our tent and where we were seated, about 4 feet of space, Gawking into our tent and looking at all we had going on. instead of going to the many egress points to get to the river. I found it very rude, lazy and entitled. Just walk another 100 feet to find the trail, or go through an empty site.

I am saddened by the lack of care Salmon La Sac has received from my, our, Federal Government. The campsite is, was, a gem built by the CCC and to see so many of the historic wood fire stoves in disrepair was upsetting. A water pump near a spot we have stayed in the past was broken, thankfully we were not there this time, but the site we stayed in sadly was a hike for water. The solar water pump near the picnic area, usually a reliable source we thought was suspect because the water "looked" different this year, it had a yellow tinge, something we had not seen in multiple years past.

The pit toilets, while functional, could have used a good cleaning in the chute, not the fault of the camp hosts, but something that would have improved the experience. Also, the garbage bins near the middle loop and toilets should be relocated, perhaps on the Eastern side of the info sign, to be moved further away from the sites on the Cooper, as the smell is nasty when the winds are not in your favor.

We spent some time down at the Salmon La Sac swimming hole, and it too was sadly overused. After our swim we left with a large kitchen garbage bag of full of junk left by other people: shoes, shirts, bags, broken bottles, cans, paper, plastic, toys, etc.
