About Peterson Prairie Cabin

The Peterson Cabin is located on the Mt. Adams Ranger District, is powered by propane, and wood heat and can sleep six people. The cabin was salvaged from demolition in 2014 and moved into place of a cabin that was razed by fire in 2012. The cabin has been meticulously restored and is open year round. Between December 1st and April 1st the road to the cabin is closed. Parking at Atkisson Sno-Park is required between these dates and a Washington State Sno-Park Pass is required. Ski, snowshoe or snowmobilers can access the cabin from Atkisson Sno-Park.

Love this cabin! Everything about it is perfect - the cute kitchen with stove and fridge, the cozy living room with classy leather loveseats and toasty woodstove, the comfy beds and room for the whole crew. It snowed multiple feet during our stay and we stayed snug as a bug. The people before us didn’t leave any chopped wood or kindling (boo!) so we put in some overtime in the woodshed💪

Everything was good and in order. Nice to be able to use the wood stove inside the cabin now that the rains have come. We actually got some snow afternoon and evening of Nov 3, 2022.

Everything was great, except was expecting to have running water. Retrieved water from the campground so we could do dishes.

Easy to access and fits the bill for a cozy cabin getaway. Awesome wood stove. Couldn’t find a snow shovel and the axes need sharpening but everything else was perfect. Close to the ice caves and natural bridges and roads were groomed for xc skiing. Best cabin I’ve rented to date.

the cabin was really amazing. i wasn’t expecting to come into a fully stocked kitchen, refrigerator etc. we had a really nice time the 3 nights we were there. we stayed around the area for the most part but enjoyed as much as we could outside. the fire pit was great and on a clear night you can see so many stars. it’s a great little hideaway! can’t wait to go back!

Such a gem of a cabin! We booked the Peterson cabin on a whim without having much information about it. We are so glad we did! It is very cute, extremely clean and well taken care of. We are already planning our next trip back!
