Gorge Base Camp

Great location and stellar amenities (bathrooms, shower and laundry all clean and in good working condition). Trains not too loud (earplugs available if you need them!) and on the WA side don't blow the whistle anywhere close. We had a peekaboo view of the river and the bridge across it. Easy to navigate and well manicured sites that still felt private. And the host is super helpful and accommodating - and very knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommend!

This campground is absolutely gorgeous! Well maintained, fantastic location.
Really nice thick grass between RV spots. Down the hill from our spot is a big open area for our dog to run.
The woman who greeted us was very welcoming and informative.

There are trains which go right by the site. Really cool to see. The host also offered a basket of earplugs. I myself have always loved trains and have camped near tracks before. Along the tracks are miles of blackberry bushes! Just beautiful.

I can hear a low rumble like pleasant white noise from the river.

We stayed here in June 2026 for our 10th anniversary of our wedding we had in Hood River. We camped in our Sprinter van with two kids (3 and 6). All of the sites are super flat, and the lawn is extremely well manicured. Each site has its own picnic table, but due to local rules there's no fire rings and no fires allowed. there are really well kept showers, bathrooms, and a laundry room with four or five washers and dryers. They're all coin-operated but the cash change machine in the wall takes up to 20s so you're good to go.

We have found this to be the best RV/camping spot close to Hood River for kiteboarding and mountain biking, with the only downside being that you can't ride your bike or walk across the bridge into Hood River. So definitely plan on picking up camp in the morning as you head into the town.

There is a train that goes by but we didn't even have it keep us up, The campsites are up a hill and fairly well protected from the sound in my opinion considering everything on this river will have train noise.

Over the years I think we've stayed here three times only once under this management. The park is extremely well kept and will keep coming here for years to come.

I’ve stayed at this RV park several times over the years camping with first a tent in a little park graduating to a 33 ft RV then downsizing to my current 21 ft RV.
This place is well maintained with paved RV parking surrounded by green lawn and various trees. (There is a train which passes through every 20 minutes but after the first few times you get used to it). There is a very large dog run here.
It is located across the Columbia River from the town of Hood River. It’s a lovely area with snow capped mountains in the background.
There is much to do in this area fishing, hiking, wind surfing as well as shopping for antiques in the little towns, or driving the “Fruit Loop” to visit local fruit farms for fresh produce, lavender or to several local wineries& places to eat.
Many areas are dog friendly.
This is a great place to stay either overnight or for several days. Plan ahead though as it’s usually booked out.

We came to Hood River for a wedding and this was a perfect spot to stay in our 30 foot trailer. It’s a beautiful little park with lovely landscaping and views of the river. We approached from the east on the Washington side because of previous reviews saying how narrow the bridge is. While large vehicles do cross, even without the trailer we lost our extended driver-side mirror when another truck came too close, side-swiping us. Take that warning seriously!
