Horseshoe Recreation Area is a charming campground nestled in a valley, featuring clean sites and friendly, attentive hosts who enhance the experience. Visitors appreciate the beautiful scenery, spacious campsites, and proximity to hiking and mountain biking trails. However, there are ongoing issues with bathroom maintenance and a lack of showers, which some guests would like to see addressed.

The drive through the mountains to get to this campground was absolutely beautiful. We truly loved the serene splashes of water along the stream in earshot of our campsite. Upon our arrival, we completely forgot that there was no WiFi, but we didn’t mind, in fact we enjoyed being disconnected to spend quality time together (in and out of the unexpected lightning and thunderstorms haha). We were greeted by the friendliest of camp hosts Kris Ann and Ashlee, they brought our firewood over to our site via wheelbarrow and dropped off our ice bag too. Kris Ann gave us print out directions to some of her highly recommended hiking spots and local restaurants, and we definitely got food baby comas after eating at The Grand Slam. We’ve been tent camping for a good little bit, so we have a good amount of gear to help us get by without needing to frequent a local store. WARNING: If you need supplies of any kind, it would be a 60-90 round trip to reach a grocery store or dollar general. Also, we completely didn’t remember this when we booked our trip, but there are no showers or water hookup sites, so if you are staying at this campground there is a swimming hole to dip into or i recommend bringing a portable camping shower. 1000% without a doubt this is a campground we are coming back to, and we hope we get to see Kris Ann and Ashlee again on our next trip!

Very nice, quiet, small clean campground. Inexpensive with pass. Location is a bit off the beaten pass and down in a valley, so pulling a trailer is a bit of challenge. Otherwise, nice place to camp.

Was very relaxing and even though we didn't participate in the 4th of July events (had others plans) it sounded fun.
My family and I always have a great time.

Quiet and clean campground, good tent site. Bathrooms were clean and private. Would be nice to have a shelf in there for toiletries. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful finding food in the area.
