What Guests Are Saying
Stuart Recreation Area is a well-maintained campground that offers a beautiful and peaceful environment, with spacious, private sites surrounded by lush greenery and rhododendrons. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp hosts and the proximity to Elkins for convenient access to supplies. While some facilities, like the bathrooms, could use updates, the overall experience is positive, making it a favored destination for campers.

Our last camping trip of the year finds us at Stuart Recreation area for the WV Forest Festival in Elkins. We decorate for Halloween, have a trick or treat evening for the kids camping in the campground, and a get together for soups, grilled cheese, and desserts with our family and good friends. Always a good time at Stuart's in October!! See you again next year!😊

Beautiful and well maintained campground and picnic area! The campsites are roomy and many are private with lots of rhododendron around them. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. We cannot wait until next spring to go back there again.

Excellent campground.Clean, well separated sites. Some were sloped but easy to deal with in our RV. Campground host was very helpful. The location was excellent (close to Elkins and in The Monongahela National Forest). We will be back and stay longer!

I have always enjoyed the Stewart recreation area. Better enjoy it why we can, the invasive species of plant life & bugs are slowly destroying are woods. I don’t like the reservation camping, I like first come first get camping.
