What Guests Are Saying
Gerald Freeman Campground is a beautiful and peaceful destination, well-loved for its family-friendly atmosphere, clean facilities, and scenic surroundings, including easy access to water for fishing and kayaking. Many campers appreciate the relaxed environment and friendly staff, making it a favorite spot for repeat visitors. However, there are some concerns about the maintenance of the grass and bathhouses, as well as the need for better Wi-Fi and more full hook-up sites.

Good family campground. Clean and grass was mowed. Nice place to walk our dogs. Love to kayak the river. Nice people. Only problem is no internet or cell phone service.

The camp host was super nice and helpful. My kids enjoy riding their bikes, visiting the snack shack and kayaking.

The hosts were super nice and welcoming. The campground was very quiet and well-maintained. The bathhouse was immaculate. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great place. Good people.
Change contractors for mowing the grass. When people bring their own push mowers cuz grass is too high on a constant basis——the state should b ashamed.

14 miles of narrow, winding , hilly SR 15 could be a challenge for inexperienced RV drivers. Inside park roads are fine. Sites are level and roomy. The construction is finished. Verizon signal varies from 0 to 1 bar. Shopping is 30 minutes away. Quiet. During our late October's stay it was only 10% full. We would return.

Gerald Freeman Campground is a large campground with multiple loops and many river-front sites. The Black Bear loop, that has the majority of the full hookup sites, is closest to State Road 15 which has a lot of loud truck traffic and happened to be under daytime construction when we visited in late September. It’s a good thing we planned to be away sight-seeing during the day because the jack hammer noise was relentless.
The campground was well maintained, restrooms were clean but showing age. Very low to no cell service in the area so plan ahead with directions. Follow the directions in the reminder email or GPS coordinates for the campground because mapping by the name of the campground lands in the wrong location.
Be aware the check-in time for this campground is 6 pm, check out time is 5 pm so if you arrive early in the afternoon your site may still be occupied. Overall, the draw of a full hookup site was not worth the long, winding, hilly road to get there and the inconvenience of poor cell service.

The road to the campground is steep and twisting but it is worth it. The campground is nice with many sites along the creek and access to the lake. We enjoyed our short stay and will return.
