We had a wonderful time. The grass was cut and our site was clean. The bathhouse was well stocked and clean as well.

The Camp Host was very unfriendly. Also the grass looked like it had not been cut in a month. This campground is going downhill!

There were serious issues with the electric. It was running voltage as high as 136 which could cause serious damage. I, as well as other people, reported it several times but nothing was done to fix it.
The grounds were not kept well. The grass was very overgrown. A huge disappointment compared to other COE parks.

Lower Bathhouse was shut down and kicked up multiple times. Camp host said it was vandalized when the real problem is the water pressure. The women’s bathroom only had one sink and two showers open.
There were five boats lined up to load on to trailer at the lower boat ramp. We couldn’t get the kids to stop swimming and move off the ramp to back the trailer in. Multiple kids were unsupervised and had NO LIFEJACKETS while in the water on the ramp. I’ve camped at Gerald R Freeman for many years, grew up on the water and this is as bad of management as I have ever seen. It would be nice if they would put the guard rails in the new bridge crossing and open it up. It’s difficult to navigate a 36ft camper through the campground for two years now on a single lane road.

Grass could have been better mowed but otherwise great as usual! Don't use bathhouses so I can't comment on those, other than to say I did see the cleaning crew there frequently.

From I-79, take exit 67. Turn right on WV-4 and go 1 mile. Turn left on WV-15 and travel 12 miles to the campground. Campground will be on your right. NOTE: GPS directions are not always accurate. Call for additional information.

General
- Alcohol is prohibited at Sutton Lake
- Visiting hours are from .
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- • No person(s) may camp at one or more campsites for more than 14 days in a 30 day consecutive period at “Sutton Lake”. This includes the reservation holder (primary occupant) and all other overnight occupants.
- • Any person utilizing a Federal Pass for a discount on camping fees must present the discount pass upon request, be registered on the campsite, and occupy the site overnight for the entire duration of the reservation to receive the full discount.
- • You may only be registered as the primary occupant at one campsite upon check-in.
- • All trash and debris must be completely removed from the campsite upon departure.
- • All motorized recreational vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), utility terrain vehicles (UTV), mopeds, scooters, golf carts, hoverboards, etc., that are not licensed for use on all roadways are prohibited in the campgrounds.
- • Please contact the Sutton Lake office about questions on power driven mobility aids.
- • The primary occupant is responsible for the adherence to camping rules and regulations by all other occupants, guests, and visitors on the campsite.
