What Guests Are Saying
Laura Lake Campground is a beautiful and well-maintained site, featuring spacious campsites and a serene atmosphere. While the advertised bike and hiking trails were overgrown and not usable, the campground itself remains clean and picturesque, with friendly pit toilets and occasional 5G Wi-Fi access. Some maintenance issues, including road disrepair and noise from nearby campers, were noted, but overall, visitors appreciated the rustic charm and tranquility of the location.

They advertise a rail trails bike trail and a hiking trail around the lake, reason for the reservation. Unfortunately both were so over grown you couldn't use either one, very disappointed.

Absolutely beautiful campground! Pit toilets smelled better than most public restrooms. Grounds were well kept, park was quiet and lake was beautiful

Laura Lake is a beautiful campground. It was very clean and obviously well-cared for. A tip: we were able to get a wifi connection at the picnic table next to the Gordon Lake campground. Athough the connection came & went, it was often 5G allowing both my husband and myself to download a library book to our Kindles!

The pit toilet was a little more odorous than other places I’ve camped, and even at my campsite we would sometimes catch a whiff. Maybe because later in the season? Our site was amazing, beautiful wooded area between us and the beach and very quiet. Even with the stinky pit toilet still one of the best campsites I’ve visited.

We love this campground. It's rustic and beautiful. However, on this trip we had a bad experience with a nearby camper who ran his generator 24/7 the whole week we were there. There hasn't been a campground host all season and there was nobody to enforce the quiet hours. In addition, the place is in need of maintenance. The road leading to the campground is in disrepair, as are the gravel roads within the campground. Many of the fire rings need replacement. There is a bog lake on the property but the boardwalk leading to the lake is in such disrepair that it is dangerous. Cell phone service is spotty at best.

Laura Lake is probably my favorite place to go camping. It is only 40 minutes from my home so it is an easy drive. I love that it has nothing but hand pump water and pit toilets. Sites are large and not crowded. The first loop (1-15) has the most mature old growth forest and the sites are certainly closest to the lake in the first loop. The only negative if you have a family is that there is nothing around the area. You are a good 40 minutes from Iron Mountain, MI if you need stores. If you are older, retired and happy just to sit at your campsite than this is the place for you.
